Academic activities were halted at the faculty of agriculture on the 29th of January, due to a lecture boycott that was embarked on by the students of the faculty. Reasons for the boycott were stated as the bad state of; the lecture rooms (particularly the agricultural lecture thearters) at the faculty and the laboratories at the faculty.

The boycott was the resolution of the congress that held on Tuesday the 27th when students of the faculty, presented the issue to be discussed.
Necessary steps were then taken so as to ensure the effective and appropriate execution of the boycott. This they did by consulting and dropping letters with the Dean of the faculty, HODs, Dean Students Affairs (DSA) and ASUU representatives.
The faculty management pointed out that there should have been a 72hour notice rather that than the 24hour notice they’ve gotten but the congress stakeholders presented their grounds for not rescinding by saying that they would hold a peaceful protest whilst the boycott was on.

One of the stakeholders stated “the school’s
astronomical increase of the school fee hasn’t translated to notable development of the faculty’s facilities, the faculty of Agriculture has been
relegated whilst other faculties have seen the construction of new structures. Even if they don’t build us new structures, the old ones should be renovated”.
We got verified information that as a result of emergency meetings that took place the evening of the 28th and 8am-9am, 29th between the
stakeholders, the Chairman Security Committee, the Chief Security Officer ,the protest wasn’t embarked on but postponed for 72hours and the management promised to work on the students’ requests.
