Google Toyota wars.

You will be surprised how effective a highly mobile small force scattered over a large area was able to crush a conventional army with air superiority.

All their tactics are errily similar to that of the Chadian forces and rebels fighting against Libyan forces.

The current president of Chad was decorated after the war for leading a successful campaingn as a military commander of the Chaian forces.

I know of the success of hilux type war, what I was pointing out is the tactless manner in which Boko haram drives in straight line convoys into towns , they convoys are very easy to sight from the Sky and with proper presence in the skies the airforce can make sure those convoys never move an inch .. Make no mistake no toyota rag tag group can beat a well structured military force that possess good recon ,good artillery , good infantry and superb air presence , we only saw their victory in Libya because of the west used air superiority to crush Ghaddafi forces which gave way for the rag tag rebels to drive their toyotas into already subdued towns.

Air superiority using fighter jets with limited payloads will not do.

What is required is helicopter gunships equipped with air to ground capabilities like rockets and Gatling gun.

What good is a fighter jet when targeting sparse ground formations?

This is why the US have the Warthog air to ground fighter whose role is mainly to target ground troops.

But the most annoying thing about this Boko Haram thing is that it is painfully obvious that our troops are spread thin along a very wide area. The boko haram insurgents are also given the opportunity to regroup and attack at will which shows that they dictate the when nd where combat is to occur.
This is where the military has failed woefully. You don't give the insurgents breathing space but you put them on the defensive and run night and day. A sustained effort like this was what led to the group doing a tactical retreat out of populated areas nd seeking refuge in mountainous border regions.

Obviously the current command lacks the initiative or will in prosecuting this war. There is als the discipline issue and traitors especially among the officer cadre.

I have stated severally here that the war in the northeast is between the military themselves with Boko Haram claiming credit for teir own lapses and treasonable acts.
