RIVERS State Sports Commissioner, Fred Igwe, has said that the Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium Port Harcourt is a class above the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, adding that there is no basis for comparison.

Replying the criticism of the Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium by Vice President Namadi Sambo, who said the Port Harcourt complex, especially the pillars, has structural defects, Igwe said the stadium conforms to world-class multisport complex standards.

Sambo had at the Peoples Democratic Presidential Campaign Rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State criticized the structural features at the Rivers State government-owned Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium.

Igwe also slammed Sambo for drawing comparison between the Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium and the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo. Saying that the 40,000 capacity sports complex is 90 per cent completed, and will be totally completed before the end of the current administration in Rivers State.

He accused Sambo of lacking the moral justification to criticise any sports project, given that when he was the governor of Kaduna State, he neither built any stadium nor improved on the facilities at Ahmadu Bello Stadium and Ranchers Bees Stadium, Kaduna.

He described the two stadia in Kaduna as grossly substandard and even least qualified to host Nigeria Premier League matches

The PDP have started again. This was how they went on campaign to claim that Governor Amaechi didn't build any stadium but only for them to come quarreling Governor Amaechi to use the same stadium which they earlier claimed was not in existence. After that Presidential campaign in that stadium, many of those PDP members who attended the campaign came back home making some confessional statements about the good work Governor did there.

Didn't you read where the report read that it was Dumbo Sambo that first politicized the matter in one of pdps rally. He is only refuting him and stating the obvious

What they have in akwa ibom is a simple 30,000 capacity football field and nothing more, but what they have in Rivers state is a full with a FIFA capacity rated 40,000 capacity stadium with olympic size swimming pool, tennis court, volleyball court, basketball court and more..

Theres a clear difference between a mare football field with fancy scaffolding and a full sports complex with full olympic and FIFA rated facilities...

Btw, learn how to read and comprehend, Sambo politicized the issue with his thoughtless and ignorant comment...

Yes the design is perfect and hope it wont end up like the Stella Oduah remodelized airport.

Though in real sense Sambo should have avoided the comparison because Ameachi didn't build just a stadium but sports complex. And the complex is still under construction.

Anyway, i don't blame him because he had nothing to say against Ameachi's gpvt. Infact am sure he astonished when he saw the complex because he is an architect.

Shebi na him say Osibanjo get 5000 churches? So Igwe, no blame am oh!

A mere looking at the number of seats in the rivers state stadium anyone who can count will know that the real capacity of that stadium is not more than 20,000 seats but the lying APC says its 40,000.

The builders said the design was for a 26,000 capacity stadium but every day the capacity of that stadium changes because it has been politicized.
Julius berger built Akwa Ibom Standard using international best practices to make id a world standard stadium hence its nomination for the 2014 Worlds best stadium.

Who built Amesimaka Stadium? Local contractors tied to Amaechi corrupt office! how can you compare the work of a local contractor to an international firm like Julius berger?

If the Amaechi Stadium is not good, why are the accursed Jonathanians led by Nyesom Wike crying all over town that they must use the place by force
