The Police in Kano on Thursday arraigned a 43-year-old man, Tijjani Saleh, in Kano over adultery.

Saleh was charged for seducing a married woman and attempting to commit adultery, an offence contrary to Sections 187 and 119 of the Shari’a law.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Ahmed Magawata told a Sharia Court sitting in Sabon Gari Yan’ alluna, Kano, that on Feb. 3, one Alhaji Sabi’u Muhammad of Rijiyar Lemo reported the matter at the Bachirawa Police Division, Kano.

The report said Saleh of Rijiyar Lemo quarters tricked the wife of Muhammad, one Magajiya Shehu, to his home.

According to the report, it was through the social media that they met, as a result of which Magajiya was invited to his house.

The report added that the accused (Saleh) hugged the woman and attempted to abuse her womanhood.

When the charges were read out to the accused, he pleaded guilty to the charge.
The presiding Judge, Malam Abubakar Ayagi, sentenced the accused to one year imprisonment, in addition to being flogged three strokes of the cane on his buttocks. (NAN)
