Most people are usually faced with a dilemma whenever they have to go on a first date with their new interest. They have to make decisions like what to wear, what to say and where to go. This piece will focus on suggestions that will help you choose the perfect first date location and activity.

1. Dinner Date

This is one of the most popular choices for first dates. While it is not necessarily innovative, over time it has proven an effective way of getting to know someone better. Whether the restaurant is Five Star or Casual, dinner dates afford you the opportunity to meet and ‘gist’ in an ambient atmosphere, get served by professional waiters, take a walk while holding hands and if you’re lucky, get the goodnight kiss. But, dinner dates could be disastrous too. Apart from the food and drinks, there’s nothing else to focus on except yourselves, and the pressure to maintain meaningful conversation till the date ends might be too much to bear.

2. Lunch Date



While dinner dates would seem romantic, lunch dates usually represent less pressure on the part of both parties. The meeting is taking place in daytime, and the atmosphere is generally less ambient. This usually works for when one or both parties are not really sure on where the relationship is headed and want(s) to thread carefully. It is also advisable to meet someone for the first time via lunch dates, for safety reasons.

3. Games

Get tickets to a football, boxing, volleyball or any other game and take your date there. It isn’t romantic, but it’s wide open, public, fun, and you’ll have a natural focal point of conversation (the game that you’re both watching) to fill in the gaps in conversation that can be a first-date hazard.

4. Concerts

If you both have similar tastes in music, whether it’s R & B, Rock, Hip-Hop or Afro-Beats, then music show tickets might be a good point to start off your potential relationship. Like game dates, you’d be meeting in a public place with lots of people around and a common point of interest to generate conversation.

5. Comedy Shows

Everybody loves to laugh. If there’s a comedy show in your area, then it’ll be a very good idea to have a first date there. The performing acts will help in breaking all the ice and you will subconsciously become closer just by laughing to the same jokes.

6. Movies



Movies are a reliable go-to choice for a first date. Despite the fact that there isn’t a lot of opportunity for get-to-know-each-other conversations in a darkened theater, it is still one of the most preferred places to have first dates. It is open, safe, and could be combined with a Dinner or Lunch Date where you could talk about yourselves, and exceptional scenes in the movies you just saw, if there’s nothing else to talk about.

7. The Mall

Another public place where you can walk around, discover common interests and quietly make fun of the people passing you by is the mall. There’s plenty to do, plenty to talk about and the pressure is not so high. You should go with enough money though, for if something nice catches you or your date’s fancy.
