That's no picture of a 1957 merc. The 1st picture below is a 1957 merc 300SL gullwing and the 2nd picture is a 1957 merc ponton (S class).

I was dead sure I had seen that second one in the pix a million times some where but the one I normally encounter then was 4 door not 2.
