Its interesting how the two heavy weight presidential candidates in Nigeria political stratosphere analyses the word "CORRUPTION"
One believe its stealing while the other believes its not.
Let's have our say as we prepare to make a choice from the two candidates.

What's with the goat, yam, bla bla?
Wow. I'm impressed with GEJ clueless-ness.
All freaking thieves are corrupt. Works hand in hand.

So I give it to Buhari.
He knows what is killing Nigeria.
And as such, he has identified a problem.

OP both sounded intelligently. GEJ's explanation can be understood even by the starkest illiterate and market woman. It is all about communication. The way una de carry Jonathan matter sef don de tire me.

As for Buhari, he also answered intelligently. Both are on point.

GEJ is very wrong. You cannot separate goat and yam in business and governance. Someone will always sign payment, someone will award contracts, someone will buy on behalf of government, a lecturer will always have a beautiful young daughter of someone else taking his course. The goat is always with the yam. A serious leader will put in place serious sanctions against corruption and increase the possibility of detectability so that everyone knows he will be caught. That is the way to fight corruption. Telling me that technology will fight corruption is stupid. IPIS in the federal civil service is actually meant to make personnel administration easier it catches ghost workers as a secondary functionality. Telling the whole country about it as an example of anti corruption drive is very childish
The greatest corruption is done at a higher level than the civil service involving billions of dollars. No IPIS is working there.

GEJ got it right because it detailed how to curb corruption - computerisation of transactions and keeping money far away from reach of officials and strengthening our institutions

Buhari talking about killing corruption by jailing people blah blah blah . . . .amounts to fighting fires? This is a mere political statement with no defined procedure how to go about it

GEJ's approach is not ruling out purnishment for offenders. The Police, EFCC and ICPC will still be doing their work.

The difference is that emphasy will be on prevention rather than fighting fires. This seems to be working expecially in civil service where bank transactions have replaced cash offices and IPIS seems to massively weeding out ghost workers. Transparency International ranking also shows Nigeria is improving

GEJ Abeg. He actually gave a clue on how to fight corruption while buhari is living in fantasy land. Buhari has no vision or laid out plan on how to work..it's a shame most Nigerians can't see this. Talks like this Onitsha touts ...always talking with no plan. Don't mind those above me supporting buhari, they are low life scums.

shows how slow your brain works. Even the bible used such expressions and called it "proverbs". it uses lessons to teach people about life. If you refuse to learn this way, the bible referred to people like you as "fools". ma brother u r on a long way. Consult your dictionary for the meaning of those two words "thief" and "corruption" they didn't write those words together in the dictionary, so save us your trash Abeg.

Think how silly your statement sounds now. How can you fight corruption should be your main focus ..on the "how". Think for once!!!

The man is always trying to dodge and make dumb and reterdedd excuses for corruption. The technology nonsense is the most idiotic ans asinine nonsense ever. America is the most tech advanced country in the surface of the earth, and they sent a governor to jail a few months ago and another just resigned yesterday and it has nothing to do with technology, its about their functional and productive crime fighting institutions like the FBI and their judicial system doing their job..

The same useless man appoints crooks under efcc investigation and in effect sabotaged their investigation, case closed. This is the president undermining his own crime fighting agency by letting crooks off the hook....

GEJ point was simple, to fight corruption , you have to separate the money from the corrupt officials. This way they don't see the money to steal..therefore, no corruption. That's why money from parastatals are carefully monitored these days and salaries are done same. But some pple like the scum above me has refused to comprehend for once. Use your brains pls

GEJ may nt be totally right because you can't run govt all alone besides he has been unable to identify 'goats' in his govt for 6 yrs, that nullifies his hypothesis. GMB's hypothesis has been tested and trusted in other climes like China, US and it can work here too.

I believe thief has a deep root in corruption, so there is no way any PHD holder will tell the whole nation that corruption is not stealing?
I see a point in killing corruption before it kills our nation.

Ah ah Chief!, goats are not human beings now. Have you not seen a small goat chasing even its big sister. Will a normal human being do that? Human being have self-awareness, and when it is taken away they become goats. Until then, stealing is corruption.

Why should at this stage our morality be redefined? Most of us have become even more confused about the meaning of corruption and stealing. There's a branch of moral philosophy called situational ethics. Whoever tells you stealing is not corruption will based on who it favours tomorrow re-twist it to mean another thing.

What we had was communication problem. The President was only trying to make stealing stand alone so that one can call a thief to be a thief. It is just like making a Chemical Engineer stand alone from the Broader Engineering. That is rather than saying MalcomX is an Engineer, we should say MalcomX is a Chemical Engineer. It doesn't mean malcomx isn't an Engineer though. The President need brilliant communicators as Advisers to help him out.

Of course a thief is corrupt, just like a nepotist but the President meant that we should call a thief a thief. His Yam and Goat explanation is simply saying that we should as much as we can block access to stealing to make it difficult for people.

What about the computer rats and cockroaches that are going to beat this computerisation or whatever. Dude everything created by man has flus and never perfect, that is why kids in advance society still breaks into top secret facilities regardless of all the technology. by Jonathan method u will only take the yam away from the unintelligent office holder like him, if u know ur way government yam will always be a victim of thievery and ash jail is perfect for serious deterrent which are still very much in practise no matter the civilisation. The best a serious government like ours can do is to strengthen judicial system to be able to prosecute any class of corruption forensically even to the presidency.

All this back-and-forth is not necessary. GEJ's words are the unfortunate utterances of a man trying to cause confusion over the wrongdoing he is personally involved in. Same as a paedophile Pastor may, with some religious mumbo-jumbo, try to justify sleeping with a gullible church member who is 14. The monumental corruption we have seen GEJ abet directly means that his words in regards to corruption carry zero credibility.
