Please explain how this is hypocrisy? Porn is in your face. It doesn't hide under any banner. It is what it is. It is strictly for adults. This on the other hand is a movie that could be described by some as art. Its the one that greys (no pun intended) out the line.
I haven't watched it but i have seen movies like Secretary, Crash, 9 1/2 weeks and i do know what to expect so knowing your kids are going to watch it and warning them ahead of time is not hypocrisy.
oluafolabi:
Nigerians and their never ending hypocrisy. The movie is rated 18+ meaning it's not meant for children. You probably saw the trailer and yet still went ahead to watch it. You have probably read the book too.

So what are you complaining about? I have never seen an article from you condemning po.rn in Nigeria but you can proudly show how much of an hypocrite that you are by condemning a movie into which so much effort was put into.

SMH.

To me It was a good movie. Not that bad. At least it was rated " Strong sex" so anybody watching is knows what they are getting into. Movie is 125 minutes and about 20minutes of sexual activities. Good actors and actresses. You guys should stop complaining jor.

The OP is confused... bla bla sounds better

One woman acting 'confused' is not equal 'women are a confused bunch'

And even if she is an hypocrite, her write up has invaluable lessons on what love is..

So in the midst of her 'confusion', she did us good grin
The Op is the result of someone who has comprehension issues. Who's talking about love in 50 shades? angry tongue

Bros,

Let's imagine the tens of millions of women all want it... (which in reality does not hold waterwink

In Nigeria alone, we have about 170million people, say about 40million women .... now imagine the population of women worldwide

What percentage of women like S & M compared to the world population of women

Hope you read the analogy of dog food as used by someone earlier. In this whole world, how many Shakespeare books would sell 100million if not for school curriculum. Then we have writers like Grisham, Collins, Sheldon, etc. Which of these people's books have sold up to 50million. In fact, I'm not sure many of them have sold 100million combined.

And it's not even about S&M per se, it's about women generally wanting/needing a stronger man than themselves. An alpha male, ya know? wink

@OP

Stop being a hypocrite! This is just a movie and many movies also portray what you want to see. Why don't you go and watch them than telling young girls not to see the film. You are carrying this old mind of perfection and pious. Please, give me a break!

Even if you decide to share $10,000 to all residents of a given city, everyone will not show up to collect it.

Some will procrastinate, some won't hear about it and some others will think it's peanuts.

How do you think poll statistics are obtained? A subset of the larger population is polled...

Heck, even academic journals speak with so much authority after conducting tests on a few hundred persons.

No matter in what shade it comes, the #1 masculine attribute that elicits a sexual response from women is DOMINANCE.

Just because it's been nursed in the hearts of men doesn't mean it's okay to express it.

But I suppose we could thank the Arts for giving us a way of living out our darkest (unconventional) desires.

Ok sir...

Goodluck to dominating your wife

While you are at it, ask how many real life men (dad would be a starting point) actually 'dominate' their wives

Goodluck cheesy

I have not seen this movie that is generating so much hype. I have read the 50 shades series (all three of them) and I loved them! I was mentally challenged by these books trying to really understand their sexual activities and prowess. I don't know if the movie will do the book justice because I do not want to be disappointed if I ever decide to watch.

Hmm fifty shades of grey!!! Well from what i could deduce from that movie, the girl "Anastasia" enjoyed every bit of it, and the guy kept asking if she was ok with what he was doing and her answer was always yes! yes! yes! You see some women love romance but I think most tyms they like a guy to take charge, and be less gentle more than they'll ever admit. I know alot of ladies will always claim they like soft, gentle, sex/lovemaking all of the time, but I tell you its bull-crap. Even when it hurts a bit gals'll still love it, cos its what makes it more interesting.. So for the manipulation part, OP may be right considering the age difference between the two actors in the movie..... but dat gal loved every minute of it, except for the brutal toys aspect....

I like erot.ica, all sorts, a lot....but 50 Shades is not believable at all
The guy too young, the girl too good
Story line, weak and unbelievable
I talk about the books which I started reading but could not finish...I wonder how the movie was? I wont even watch, I do not buy what it sells, me, the ero.tica lover

Now Twilight....thankfully read the books....awesomeness....believable, in spite of all
The movie was weak, very weak...simply bad

My best sexx movie mis "go tell it on the mountains"
Just good
"They" would never make a movie outta it...it is that bad
Forbidden love

I digress
Okay, I am out

Maybe your idea of romance isn't what the majority of women deem romance. Maybe they don't like your "new & improved" dog food.

Women just want to be taken, by a strong man.

And they don't fantasize about flowers, and dinner dates or chocolate.

And this is where it gets freaky.
One would think that women folk and Feminists will come hard on the book/movie, yet they are the ones clamouring to read/watch?
If you consider that the subliminal message in this whole 50 shades shebagan is 'that women wants to be taken', and they are truly devouring it, how do we fight violent sex offenders in the society?
Is it that women has evolved right under our noses? from loving a velvety mills n boon romance experience to the wild possessive and brutal 50 shades?
What does women want
