This is a poem...
You were to be my well
But there was little to drink
How am i to slake my thirst
When you taut me like an oasis

You were to be my armor
Yet i still was hurt by our enemy
How am i to survive
When your shield is translucent

You were to be my walls
But you were made of straw
How am i to reside
When your shelter is temporary

You were to be my farmer
But you eclipsed my sun
How am i to thrive in obscurity
When your fertilizer burns my soul

You were to be my concrete
But you were made of mud
How am i to stand on my own
When it is support which you lack

You were to be my bones
But there was no enrichment within
How am i to work with vitality
When it is dust you became

You were to be my well
But there is little to drink
I will never be able to slake my thirst
For you will always be an oasis.

This is my 1st post here on nairaland, so what yhu all got 2 say

Friends they were,
They both claimed to care,
They were trying to be neutral and
platonic but
already, he loved her and she loved
him.
Though it was obvious,
They didn’t talk about their feelings.
He was silent, he was dying inside.
She was quiet, she was waiting to
hear him.
She got tired eventually.
The day he decided to talk,
She decided to talk too,
They met as usual,
He didn’t tell her his plans,
She didn’t tell him hers too,
He brought with him flowers.
She brought with her a ring.
‘Let’s start our love story already’ he
said.
With tears in her eyes,
She brought out the ring and said..
‘I waited so long for you, I got tired.
Some one else
proposed to me already’.
He crumbled inside.
‘I’ve always loved you, I…. I’m gon
die without you.’
he said.
‘I’m sorry, I said YES to the one who
gave me this
ring already’. She replied.
She stormed away.
He was a mess and he never
recovered.
He spoke, but it was too late.
Love is never enough,
It never has been,
Timing matters too.
It does a lot
