Scamming is fast becoming an occupation and a lot of people who have even heard stories and had experiences still fall for scams.

These scammers most times use the phishing method which is the attempt to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money) by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

Below are some examples of the kind of emails they'd sent you ranging from Romance to even your curriculum vitae.

Ultimately, they prey on people who are lonely, panic, desperate, greedy, ignorant or look for rewards with little work input or who panic at situations without reading between the lines and double checking the email address before clicking to the phishing sites.

Many Email Providers put in systems that catch most of these phishing sites but alas they become smarter all time - registering domains similar to the email providers, using their templates, logos and other company assets. They may also at times use compromised friends' accounts to get your own details. The recent trend is them dropping comments on Facebook accounts, Blog posts (we have seen a lot here). We have also seen some opening LinkedIn accounts of prominent people in a bid to make their scam more successful.

Many times it is difficult to determine and no one really is safe. We hope these scamming examples below will help you to determine which message, comment or email is a scam.

I agree to reward you with part of the money for your assistance, kindness and participation in this Godly project. This mail might come to you as a surprise and the temptation to ignore it as unserious could come into your mind but please consider it a divine wish and accept it with a deep sense of humility.

I am Mr Peter Attah and I am a 55 years old man. I am a South African living in the Garden City of Port Harcourt - Nigeria. I was the President/CEO of TOMOBA OIL LIMITED - an oil servicing comapny in Port Harcourt. I was also married with two children. My wife and two children died in a car accident six years ago. Before this happened my business and concern for making money was all I was living for and I never really cared about other people.

But since the loss of my family, I have found a new desire to assist the helpless. I have been helping orphans in orphanages/motherless homes.I have donated some money to orphans in Sudan, Ethiopia, Cameroon,Spain,Austria,Germany and some Asian countries.
