GEJ playing the bigger man in this diegesis.

But seriously, this administration has practically ruined the Naira.

This is not the first time oil prices would fall now, nor does it affect some other poorer oil producing states as much as it does us.

[size=18pt]President Goodluck Jonathan is becoming boring.
He keeps on whining these days.
Where is Dr. Doyin Okupe, Pastor Reno Omokri and Reuben Abati?
Are they on leave? grin
Gen Olusegun Obasanjo (retd) is the first Nigerian military head of state who later became a civilian President of Nigeria.
Most of those attacking former President, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo (retd) are in three categories.
1. Ignorant intellectual illiterates.
2. Poor students of history who don't read and
3. Those suffering from political amnesia.

You can bribe the press.

You can bribe royalty.

Heck,You can bribe the military.

You may even be able to bribe the clergy (God forbid).

But you can't bribe the economy.

The stability of our Naira is a reflection of our economy is being run.

google is your friend bro. No oil mono product economy is immune to the price fall crisis & pressure on currency. If anything, Nigeria is faring better in managing it than many others. Local commodity prices has remained stable & inflation has not soared.

It is clear that OBJ's actions are dealing deadly blows to Jonathan's camp. For the robots that would likely come in here to say that he's not needed, your paymaster has agreed that 'Ebora Owu' is his political father and god, hence, the need for him to trash him is allowed.

By the way, how's intra-party crisis capable of chasing away investors
shouldn't we be interested in the progress of this nation? Rather than being a partisan in this. The statusquo of this country reflects the fruitlessness in the reasoning of people like you.

My brother, am tired of 16years mismanagement rulings of the PDP and Jonathan made it worst. In Edo state, lucky Igbinedion ruled for 8years with nothing to show for it, in Bayelsa, PDP has being ruling that state till date yet its citizens are so poor than most northern beggers. Guy, its time we try another thing and compare them. I believe there is no harm if we try another and compare which is better.
In America, they have Republican and democrat. Each produce a president giving the masses avenue to judge which is better.

As for me o!

Obviously many do not understand that OBJ is supposed to be an elder statesman and should behave as such not like some ragtag tout who can make any pronouncement.

Why does Bush, Clinton others not criticise Obama openly unnecessarily
You obviously don't understand Nigerian politics. Even GEJ referred to OBJ as his political father. Check the post well. Unfortunately, Americans don't put up the sickly godfatherism attitude we put up during elections. Our country is divided into various geopolitical zones and a president must be willing to wipe the arse of a retired politician just to win his people. Our politics has not matured enough for the masses to choose an intelligent fellow over a corrupt one. Imagine Obama being a Nigerian, he might impress the educated ones in a debate and you might be shocked to discover that he would lose the election gallantly. Why? The effect of an unseen hand - godfatherism.

Oh, I get it. That's why the Naira is competing with war torn Ukraine's hryvnia, and the likes of Zambia's kwacha, for world's worst performing currency.

It has nothing to do with our over-reliance on oil (which is my fault, or Nairalanders fault), nor does it have anything to do with depleted foreign reserves which is also our fault.

The statement by Jonathan is a reflection of the due courtesy and acknowledgement of OBJ's role in the past, which is the hallmark of a gentleman and a true statesman as opposed to the agbero wailing and whining by the letter writing Agbaya of Owu. It has less to do with OBJ continuing to be a godfather or not.

See the difference

Do you know why IBB, Abdusalami et al who transformed OBJ from Abacha's PRISONER to president did not hassle him while he was in power as he is doing now?

Chief Obasanjo scaring investors Really!!! This is simply crass stupidity. If anyone is scaring investors away, it's GEJ's government and his evil clan of supporters. President stealing-is-not-corruption, your government's limitless corruption is scaring investors away. Same thing with your band of thieving supporters. Dokubo and his fellow militants, who are publicly threatening to make war against Nigeria if Jonathan loses the forthcoming elections; the Biafra folks who are publicly threatening to annihilate everybody in Nigeria if Biafra isn't created by December this year...to mention a few!

This is just another baseless senseless accusation that lacks merit completely. Obasanjo is not a threat to Nigeria. Come 28 March 2015 we shall vote out of power the one who is really the threat to the welfare of Nigeria and Nigerians.

Anyway,

GeJ till May 28, 2015 tongue

There is 'godfatherism' too in the states, virtually almost everywhere (silent/vocal/visible/invisible). I get what you mean though (liked ur comment), ours is just tooooo much.

The Naira viz-a-viz its stability is a function of international trade balances I.e the value/worth of exports against that of imports. Now, the price of crude crashed from 100+ dollars per barrel to about 50 dollars per barrel. As if that is not enough, the USA stopped buying our bonny light. What this means is that we have lost a huge percentage of our purchasing power while wants remain constant! During the time of IBB, there was a glut in crude oil prices which resulted in the infamous austerity measures back then but due to better management today, the effect of it has been minimized. Google about the Russian Rouble & its crash since the price fall, only then will you appreciate the situation of things here in Nigeria.
