The Federal Government has been warned against using the recent upper-hand of the military against insurgency and President Goodluck Jonathan's declaration that Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau would be captured alive before 2015 election against political opponents.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) gave the warning in a statement signed by its Director Prof. Isiaq Akintola.

It said the organisation is happy that the security forces are gaining upper hand in the fights against insurgents and that residents are beginning to return to their homes after being liberated from Boko Haram occupiers, and also urged the military not to relent until all communities occupied are liberated.

“Nonetheless, we are irked by both the speed and the ease with which the military is overrunning the insurgents. We are tempted to ask, ‘Are these the same Nigerian soldiers who reportedly took to their heels at the approach of insurgents? How did this transformation come about?’ Here lies the difference between might and will. We call for caution in the euphoria of victory.

“The urge to seize Shekau alive may lead to another controversy. This is a man whom the Nigerian military claimed to have killed several times. Nigerian security agencies had also sworn that the Shekau appearing in video clips these days is a fake one. So which Shekau do we want to capture alive now? The real one or the fake? If indeed either is captured, it will only add to the controversy. If the original Shekau is captured, then the military who claimed to have killed him lied to Nigerians albeit inadvertently. Direct ur question to the FG/military that has come out to tell us on several occassions that many shekaus have been killed but not the real one. Each time we were told he's killed, another video of him 'surfaces' to tell us he's alive.

As long as that group is still existing there must be a leader(Shekau). So, whether he has been killed or not is not material. You expect boko boys to go start crying and surrender to the army because their leader is no more? That will be a dream.

APC and it's allies have been under very serious painment for over a week now since the Nigerian Military started pounding Boko haram mercilessly. Says a lot!!

I have to bring out these salient parts for the kind attention of Nigerians who really care about our country and its progress. Some people are irked at the speed and ease with which we are crushing Boko Haram.

They wonder how we are able to do it.

They call for caution, that we should not celebrate just yet.

That Shekau should not be caught alive since it will lead to another controversy.

And they represent Muslim Right Concern (MURIC).

It is all coming together. Do you now see exactly why GEJ need to first of all build a strong regional alliance against BH since USA and her allies have failed us before striking BH with the real might of NA. These are the same people who joined Buhari's chant about 'unjust killing of Northerners' when Ihejirika was leading the Army.

Fact is that most people who complain about BH are just using it to score political points, they don't care about the people in maiduguri.
