HTC and Samsung go head to head today at Barcelona. The earlier would launch the much await HTC M9 and maybe M9 plus/max while the latter would launch Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Specifications and design expected from HTC

Apart from the name and the announcement date, we also seem to have a pretty good idea of what hardware the One M9 will parade. It's expected to come with a 5-inch, 1080p display (though we shouldn't entirely rule out a pixel-dense QHD one), resulting in a pixel density of 441ppi. It will most probably be powered by Qualcomm's 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chip. We expect 3GB of DDR4 RAM to make a debut for the first time in an HTC device. The battery is tipped to be a 2,840mAh unit.

One of the more interesting aspects of the specs sheet is the expected inclusion of a regular 20MP rear camera in favor of the generally under-performing UltraPixel camera that graced both the HTC One (M7) and (M8). The camera sensor, in particular, is expected to be 1/2.4" in size and made by Toshiba (we've seen some alleged camera samples). As far as the front-facing shooter is concerned, we expect the One M9 to sport an UltraPixel snapper, though, which is fine considering its performance in low-light situations.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is said to be a radical overhaul of the company's strategy as it goes back to the drawing board. The 'Project Zero' (the codename for the Galaxy S6) is expected to wave a final goodbye to uninspiring plastic

Rumors so far say that the Galaxy S6 will feature a 5.1-inch display (some say that it will have a Quad HD resolution), a Samsung-made octa-core Exynos system chip, but the big focus seems to be on the camera.

According to the rumour, the S6’s battery has a 2,600mAh capacity, compared to 2,800mAh in the S5. With a screen the same size as the previous handset, the S6 should perform significantly better than it in day-to-day use thanks to its more efficient 14nm chipset, which Samsung claims has a ‘35% power reduction’ over the 20nm chip in the S5. If that proves to be anything near true it could easily offset the 8% difference in battery capacity.

While you shouldn't worry about the Samsung Galaxy S6 having a smaller battery, you may be able to charge the phone in a more convenient way.
Leaked benchmark results seemingly confirm the 64-bit Exynos processor will power at least one S6 model. The results hint Android 5.0 Lollipop, 3GB of RAM, and 32 GB of storage will be also feature. Meanwhile, another leaked benchmark result published by Dutch website Mobifo shows an octa-core ARMv8 and a Mali-T768 graphics unit, which correspond to the 64-bit Samsung Exynos 7420 chip. The screenshot also shows Android 5.0 Lollipop as the Galaxy S6’s operating system.
