15 Parties, Five Presidential Candidates May Boycott Elections by Kzinne: 6:03pm On Mar 04, 2015
Fifteen political parties and five presidential aspirants have threatened to pull out of the forthcoming general elections scheduled for March 28 and April 11 over the use of card reader device.

The Spokesperson for the group and National Chairman, Advanced Congress of Democrats, Dr. Breakforth Onwubuya, at a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, said the concept of using card readers for the coming elections, as being planned by Independent National Electoral Commission, “has a lot of implications which may negatively impact on the conduct of a credible, free and fair elections.”

He said, “The first drawback is that this device is relatively a new technology that has not been tested or tried in a kind of mock election or previous formal elections prior to this time. This would have enabled the nation and the electoral umpire itself to properly ascertain its workability and efficiency in the conduct of the real general elections.

“The decision by INEC to commence the test-run of the use of Card Readers in some of select states across the country on Saturday March 7, 2015, just less than three weeks to the commencement of the re-scheduled election, would not provide the commission enough time to rectify whatever anomaly that would likely arise from that exercise.”

This is really interesting. This scenario is like a student who chose a university and was offered an admission and was matriculated. Then the university authority said to do exams, you need to show your ID card at exam hall. Then the student said no and threatened with leaving the university. The question is Who Cares?

Let them withdraw..... All those mushroom parties

meanwhile in other news

[size=18pt] "The New York Times, one of the
greatest and most
influential institutions in the world,
has described
President Jonathan as a lousy
president. Christiane
Amanpour described Jonathan as a
failed head of
state. The Economists magazine
described the
Jonathan government as a failed
regime. General
Theophilus Danjuma says Jonathan is
rewarding
crime and encouraging more people
to go into it.
Senator McCain says Jonathan’s
government is
practically not existing and therefore
America
should just help Nigeria. Hilary
Clinton says
Jonathan is running a government
that is
supervising the siphoning of
Nigeria’s resources.
This is the verdict of the world and
there is no hope
again for President Jonathan and
PDP in 2015".

Rubbish, like the Yorubas will say "they gave you a charm that will make you live forever, you said it is not effective. Have you died yet that you know its not effective. If inec says the card readers are fine then we should trust them and support them not make frivolous allegations that could sully their preparations.
