Exchange Rate for Dollar-Naira, TUESDAY 10th March 2015

CBN $1 N197.00

OFFICIAL RATE $1 N199.00

BDC $1 N224.50

PARALLEL RATE $1 N225.00

Location Matters For BDC Market & Parallel Market.

Some PARALLEL Marketers sold $1=N225 to N226 today at some part of the market because of scarcity of Dollar.

This is not a matter Naira depreciation or National issue.

If you don't understand what i wrote, you can comment in which i will reply back and this will help others to know. Thanks

arbitrage:

If your wire transfer is outward, most of Nigerian banks will charge you the 4 basic charges, namely: transfer charge (about 0.5% of total amount), VAT (5% of the transfer charge), swift charge ($25 fixed) and offshore charge ($20). They will usually give you option to pay the offshore charge or your beneficiary should pay it because it is actually a charge in favour of the receiving bank. Some banks don't usually charge to receive and if you (the sender) pay the offshore charge, it may end up being a freebie to the Nigerian sending bank if your beneficiary bank does not charge recipient. The total wire transfer charges used to be around $97.5 for sending out $10,000 from Access and Union banks but Gtbank is about $110.

If your wire transfer is inbound, most of the banks may not charge you to receive here but the sending banks in the UK and US normally have a fixed wire transfer charge of $25 or $30 to send out. The better alternative could have been Western Union to send out or receive here as their charges are less than wire transfer on the same amount but the exchange rate of naira to dollar may injure you when the bank will give you your fund in naira at poor rate.

By the way, the outward or inward wire transfer will usually take 3 working days more or less; often written as 2-5 working days.

thanks bro, but the money is from a particular website and its not more than $100. I just want to receive it here in my local Account and the website will charge me $5 because I've already filled up my bank details. I just want to be sure b4 submitting the request so dt I'll not end up losing the whole cash. I'm operating with Firstbank here. pls reply. thanks.

It's good if you are sure the charge for withdrawal is $5. Payza (AlertPay) charged me $25 for withdrawal to Nigerian bank while the money was not credited by GTBank because it arrived as Euro, which GTB claimed they could not credit to my dollar domiciliary account. By the time they notified me and asked me to open a Euro Dom account, the fund has been returned by virtue of their so called 72-hour customer fund retaining policy. So be sure to confirm what currency the website will send you, what receiving charge (if any) by your bank and what First Bank policy is in that regard.

Sir if you are into the business you will understand how it's worked.

Buyers are looking for cheap rates while sellers are looking for high rate.

For lagos state alone I know of 3 location with 3 different price that is for BDC and PARALLEL market.

As for the bank and online they all have their price.

Please make research. Thanks for your opinion. We learn everyeveryday.

BDC=Bureau De Exchange

They are wholesalers, just like banks, online exchange.

BDC operators are the fastest among the names mentioned above I.e cash and carry. Less due process involved unlike others

While PARALLEL marketers=Black marketeri.e the retailers.
