Each country has its own laws-its dos and donts. Some countries allow se*x workers to operate and others don't. In as far as such acts remain legal in the society where they operate, I feel tempted to accept it than other heinous crimes... It feels like choosing the lesser of two "evils"...

it seems you deliberately ignored the word crime in the part that you bolded. Whether we like it or not prostitutes offer services and they do not force anybody to patronize them. It is simply Quid pro quo. Prostitution isn't seen as a crime everywhere. There are countries where it is legal.
In fact personally I don't see them as criminals even though I don't patronize them. a lady who becomes a prostitute to keep body and soul together is still better than one who joins an armed robbery gang, in my books.

Take a look at those pictures. No sane woman with a viable alternative would choose to be a prostitute in such conditions. illegal immigrants are often caught in no man's land and they go thru hell. They don't have papers to work legally and also dont have enough money to find their way back to their countries. The pictures are very pathetic but I can't judge them without taking a walk in their shoes.
