Step1 Prepare a good resume that emphasizes your knowledge. Joining the website as a consultant is free. Browse through the website and look at the different projects they have open and see if your qualifications fit. If you have years of experience selling on eBay and running your own store and have been a power seller, then put that on your resume. You want to gear your resume to highlight your qualifications for their consulting jobs. Currently, they are looking for individuals that have call center experience, so if you have this experience then take your time to compare what you know with the current consulting opportunities. The more thorough your online resume then the more requests you will receive.
Step2 Decide on your pay. Usually around $25.00 an hour is a good start and you can always raise it later. Many companies will hire you for a set rate for a 15 minute job of filling out a questionnaire or answering a few short questions on the phone. You can either agree or deny the request.
Step3 You will be required to sign an online disclosure statement and take a small quiz so that they know you have read the disclosure statement and understand it.
Step4 You can sent your profile to be on call at any time or on a limited basis. You can be contacted through email or through phone. If you choose phone you must be available to answer the phone call as it comes in through a central switchboard to your phone number. If through standard availability, you will need to respond to an email message i 24 hours as someone is waiting for your response.
Step5 At anytime you can go to the website and look for any open projects that you may be able to apply for. You just hit the Apply to Consultation button.
Step6 You can also write analysis on specific subjects that a company may request under the open client request page.
Step7 Many times you will be required to fill out a short questionnaire, so the company will know that you have the right experience before they have you consult. If you have the right experience, you will either be called or required to fill out a detailed questionnaire on the website that will automatically be sent to the firm that hired you to fill it out. Once that is completed then you will receive payment.
Step8 Your payments will collect on your profile page and you can ask for them to be mailed to you. Remember to have a professional head shot and to keep your resume up to date and to show your accomplishments.
