Dignity of Labor.... I would rather do this job for 5 hours and be paid 5k, than teach in one mosquito-infested village secondary school and be paid a miserly 19k for A month's work if a white-collar job won't foot my bills, then let a 'black-collar' job do it.... 14 Likes 1 Share |

buygala: And who would pay you 5k for carrying cement for 5 hours? The best you can get for carrying cement for 5 hours is N1.5k (and i am being generous). Do you understand the impact you would make to society by teaching kids in a mosquito infested village secondary school for one year as against carrying cement bags for the same year. OP u be Real mumu During NYSC camp, na Corpers dey offload the bags of rice n beans from trailer,the Corpers them selves still cook for themselves according to the platoons in charge of cooking that week. I am sure the OP did not go to school, he is definitely a semi illiterate janja-weed n has definitely not stepped into an NYSC camp in his life. 2 Likes |

wirinet:A graduate, before he goes for NYSC or after, is free to do a manual job like a labourer in a building site, but not as a corps member. It doesn't speak well of the country for a person to be seen in those kits doing manual labour. The picture here shows corps members doing what I'm sure is their CDS by their LGI. Even during orientation in the camp and after, the zonal and local inspectors are not supposed to force a PPA on corps members. If I'm not given an apartment, there is no hospital, etc, I can use as a ground to be given another PPA. 3 Likes |

wirinet: my point is, if you are in a good location where you can participate in offloading 2 or trucks a day, you can earn more than 5k daily... even if one is earning 1.5k a day as u say, that translates to 45k a month which is still more than the 19k one gets paid as a miserable teacher in some backwater secondary school... Talking about impact, if politicians with access to our collective trillions can't impact the nation, why should I bother about 'impacting' the society, when I haven't even 'impacted' myself? Talking about health implications, every occupation has its hazard... we have heard situations where teachers are murdered or grievously injured by their students for one reason or the other.. have you also considered the 'health implications' of standing and shouting for 6hours at students who mostly don't care about what you saying?  1 Like |
