Senegal will meet Nigeria in the final of the 2015 Africa Youth Championship (AYC) after they beat Mali 2-1 to win the second semifinal on Thursday.

The hosts went into the semifinals as the second-placed team in Group A but that did not count for much when they met Group B winners Mali.

It was a very entertaining game as the two teams came racing off the blocks with Moussa Kone opening the score in the very first minute of the game. His goal gave hosts Senegal the lead just 57 seconds into the match.

Malian goalkeeper Sory Ibrahim Traore could not hold a shot and it spilled for Kone to tap home for the first of his two goals.

The Malians responded immediately with dividends as one minute later they were back on level terms through a long range effort by Alhassane Diallo which Ibrahima Sy, in goal for Senegal, had no answer to.

Senegal, who have never qualified for the Fifa Under-20 World Cup, kept on the pressure but it was Mali who nearly took the lead in the 36th minute through Saliou Guindo.

The second half saw both teams have a go at each other as Mohamed Guilavogui's shot at goal was saved by Sy, though he should have done better.

Senegal got the go-ahead goal in the 80th minute through Kone who scored his second of the game as Traore could not get hold of Sidy Sarr's effort.

Mali threw everything at Senegal in the last few minutes of the game but the hosts held firm to book their place in Sunday's final against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria.

The Nigerians beat Ghana 2-0 in the first semifinal on Wednesday to earn their place in the final which will be played at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar.

Now i am afraid. The Senegalese team will do all they can to frustrate the F.eagles and i am sure they have learnt a thing or two from their opening defeat.I wanted Nigeria to face Mali.

They are the host, playing a final at home. The ref might succumb to pressure from the fans and most decisions will probably be awarded their way.Not forgetting that this is Africa where the most ridiculous things happen. There was an african U-17 final between Ghana and hosts Gambia that saw a Gambian fan run into the pitch and distracted the ghanaian goalie, Gambia scored and the goal stood.Expect the unexpected.

This match won't be dat easy this time around. If you watched the group stage match between us and senegal you will agree with me that those guys frustrated us, had the possession, played some football but our boys went for the kill. They went for the important thing which is the goals.
Senegal must have learn their lesson now and we must expect a better opposition in senegal in the final match...
No lele... Another AYC cup to us, hope we will do the same in NEW ZEALAND.

If the Flying Eagles win this game, they will be placed in Group E of the U-20 World Cup alongside Brazil, North Korea, and Hungary.
Nigeria's first game would be, just like 10 years ago, against Brazil on June 1 at 2am (Nigerian time).

However, if the FE end up as runners-up on Sunday, they'll be placed in Group D alongside Mexico, Uruguay and Serbia. The first game would be vs Mexico on May 31 at 5am (Nigerian time).

We are winners and shouldn't be scared of anyone. I believe we are capable if coach Garba keeps the boys together.

This is the best hope we have of surpassing the Isaac-Promise and Mikel team of 2005.

I expected more from the Tella boys in 2009 (after winning Korea U-17 world Cup in 2007) but I think age falsification caught up with them.

Good one for the 'young' Nigerian team.

However like Coach Samson Siasia said in one of His numerous Tv interviews, when he was asked why some of these talents are not being grafted into the National team.

His reply was some of the boys are as old as those in the National team already, and by the time they finally climb the ladder to the national team, they're too old to fit.

This and so many other issues hasn't been looked into since he said it. Why??
