I actually find it strange that the crowd of onlookers reacted only when he came at them and not necessarily because he was beating his wife.

yeah, i saw that one guy but did not realize that a handful of people were watching. if it was in Nigeria, the man would have been beaten on the spot. Nigerian wife beaters do things like this in the safety of their homes and not in the prying eyes of outsiders. That man seems to me as a drunkard (probably).

Oh I know that. One girl I know that died had reported once to the police and they settled it for them as family matter.

I blame her for not leaving sha. Knowing that police will hardly detain and prosecute anybody for beating his wife except she pursues the case herself. And winning depends on how much more influential her family.

As for state sponsored prosecutions where a reported violent offender is prosecuted by the state, that one is zero.

Very true. But looking at the root of the problem, you will discover that these women are to blame because they make the wrong choices. Just as men these days look out for wives with very shallow specifications, the same rings true for women for marry men not minding that he attempted to slap them before they got married but still went ahead thinking he will change. There are loads of good men out there but some women just...

No o. This is One girl from my place.

She took money from his pocket to buy pap for their 6month old baby.
The problem was why will she take 200naira when 50naira can buy pap.

He beat her and his mother joined hands to beat her too.
When she slumped they left her there and ran away.

She called her sister on the phone, told her what happened and asked her to come and carry her baby


when the girl got there, she found her dead on her bed. Blood dripping from her nose.

That was when the girl opened up and told us they have mediated several times between them on violence based issues.
That baby was her third child.

She was the eldest. 28 at that time.
Now the kids are with her sisters. Young girls that are not even married taking care of the three kids because their parents are late. angry

My God! cry cry

So why did the man and his mother partner in crime run away? Why not stay to the end?

Shebi now the lady is dead, "society" will step in and raise her very motherless kids? And explain to them that their mother is better off being a "respectable" dead Mrs than a scandalous single mother of three?

Seriously something needs to be done there to change people's mindset about the very dangerous consequences of domestic violence.

PLEASE, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG IN FLEEING FROM A MARRIAGE IF YOUR LIFE IS AT STAKE! TAKE YOUR KIDS AND RUN!!

Any woman that decides to stay in an abusive relationship is what I call eran iya. Their bodies were made for violence.
