WHY WE ‘TONGUE’ | 1 Corinthians 14: 4 (AMP)

“He who speaks in a [strange] tongue edifies and improves himself…”

This addresses the importance of ‘Praying in the Holy Ghost’ – popularly known as ‘praying in other tongues’.

This is another crucial knowledge we need to acquire in respect of ‘Praying in the Holy Ghosts’.

As said yesterday, there are lots of importance attached to praying in the Holy Ghost and these are what we will be looking at, hence.

Jude 1: 20 (KJV) | “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit”

To begin with, what does it mean to ‘Build up’ in Jude 1: 20?

The phrase ‘building up’ in Jude 1: 20 is ‘epoikodomeō’ (ep-oy-kod-om-eh'-o) in Greek. Figuratively, this point towards to ‘rear up’. That is, to nurture or tend or look after or train or educate or cultivate.

"Yourselves" in the same passage is ‘heautou’ (heh-ow-too') in Greek; which is translated ‘thyself’ in old king James. Literally, this refers to your ‘real man’ - the recreated spirit (the born again part of you in the New Birth).

NOTE PLEASE: Believers’ recreated spirit is not in growing stage. Rather, it is already in its matured stage. Already built up – perfect, complete | See 1 John 4: 17, Colossians 2: 10.

However, ‘epoikodomeō’ - nurturing or tending or looking after or training or educating or cultivating the recreated human spirit, that is, the inner man is highly essential.

This is what we are to cultivate or educate building up our faith momentum praying in the Holy Ghost.

This ‘building upon’ isn’t referring to adding on what Holy Spirit already is; nor talking about adding to what our recreated human spirit already is as well; neither is it talking about building one’s physical muscles (Triceps and Biceps). Rather, it is referring to cultivating the ‘inner man’, the spirit man. That is, strengthening the real man. This is the man Paul referred to in Ephesians 3: 16 - “that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man”.

Technically, we build up, rare up (nurture or tend or look after or train or educate or cultivate) our inner man – spirit man (the real man) building our faith momentum praying in the Holy Ghost.

This is why it is so important to have this supernatural lifestyle. It is more than an experience. It is a lifestyle. It bestows unlimited revelation on one’s spirit. No wonder Paul had a peerless, matchless, unbeatable revelations relate to the mysteries kept for ages. Paul’s secret was praying in tongues regularly whereby he gets his inner man cultivated and sharpened up | See 1 Corinthians 14: 18.

This our recreated spirit is the place where the Spirit of God communicates through; not our heads nor our emotions. This makes it so crucial to rear it up – to tend it like tendering a garden. Just like the way we exercise to build up our physical muscles, the inner man also needs to be looked after by building up our faith momentum which is of the heart (Spirit), not of the head through the instrumentality of praying in other tongues.

1 Corinthians 14: 4 (NJKV) | “A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally…” Amplified (AMP) renders that passage this way, “He who speaks in a [strange] tongue edifies and improves himself…”

You get your inner man edified praying in the Holy Ghost.

You get the gist now? Ok. Let’s proceed.

This is why some of us that do pray in other tongues don’t fools around doing that. We spend that much time praying in the Holy Ghost building, strengthening our inner man.

Jude 1: 20 | “Dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit”

That is quite instructive enough.

Proverb 24: 10 “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small”.

Don’t get a small strength. Build it up as to be able to withstand tough times when it comes. You can’t just afford to be at the mercy of a weak spirit. Shoo it, send it off – the weak inner man. Hook up to strength. In other words, spend time praying in the Holy Ghost to build and to gather strength.

Dearly beloved, you don’t waste away time praying in other tongues. You store up strength for your inner man. Get hook up, please.

By tomorrow, critically, we shall look at other IMPORTANCE attached to this praying in the Holy Ghost.

Till then, keep praying in other tongues and if you are yet to, just be a little patient. We will soon get to ‘How to be baptized with the Holy Ghost’ so you could have this lifestyle as well.

NOW, SAY | I am charged up, edified, improved as I pray in other tongues.

LET’S PRAY | In the Name of Jesus, I see the manifestations of the Holy Spirit in my life as I consciously see Him as He is – AMEN!

ViP | I hope you have been blessed with this message. You also can be a tool to bless others by SHARING it. Today, be a blessing.

Grace to your Heart!
