Sisi Jinx: Why will they come? Because civil servants now have living quarters and you have fine roads and a new market? Where is the power, tax incentives, import incentives and security to boost the economy? Who really are the "they" coming? New mallams and almajiris? blackspade: Yeah because not all of us are carried away by fancy buildings. while Abuja is being built those whose land funds such projects wallow in abject poverty. |

Re: The Transformation Of Nigeria, Part I - New Kaduna City (Master Plan) by BOSS7: 8:20pm On Jan 21, 2009 |
davidylan:That's very true though. I hope people's means of livelihood are not being sacrificed for these nice blocks. Nigerian politicians could be very cunny and unforgiving. |
Re: The Transformation Of Nigeria, Part I - New Kaduna City (Master Plan) by 4Play(m): 8:21pm On Jan 21, 2009 |
Sisi Jinx: The correct question should be, who is the ''you''? Who is going to spend all that money in Kaduna? If it's a private sector initiative, I have no problem with it but if it's the Govt, then it's obviously a waste. Let's not get worked up anyway. Architectural masterplans abound in Nigeria like sand in the desert. This plan won't see the light of day. |

Re: The Transformation Of Nigeria, Part I - New Kaduna City (Master Plan) by Kobojunkie: 8:22pm On Jan 21, 2009 |
It could start off as an white elephant project BUT if the people make sure to push for the success of the project, every way they can -- Be it to ensure that information is made available for them to scrutinize on a regular basis or ensuring that any questionable characters be removed as soon as identified. That is the major problem we have. The people are not as involved in all matters as they ought to be and that needs to end for these plans to work for good. |
Re: The Transformation Of Nigeria, Part I - New Kaduna City (Master Plan) by SisiJinx: 8:25pm On Jan 21, 2009 |
Kobojunkie: Thank you for not totally dismissing it, It get very demoralizing when every new plan is shut down by onlookers before they find out more about it. For once it would be nice to hear. . . that's a good start. |
Re: The Transformation Of Nigeria, Part I - New Kaduna City (Master Plan) by Nobody: 8:26pm On Jan 21, 2009 |
1. Is this going to be a long term project or will it be forgotten 30% of the way as soon as a new governor comes in? which means whatever is spent now is a collosal waste. 2. Whatever industries spring up in Kaduna as a result of this "masterplan" will depend on Lagos Ports, transportation newtwork through other states, power generation and the availability of gas or oil . . . will the masterplan make provision for all these? 3. Where are the funds for this project coming from? Federal allocation? |
Re: The Transformation Of Nigeria, Part I - New Kaduna City (Master Plan) by BOSS7: 8:34pm On Jan 21, 2009 |
@ davidylan I think your questions would have to wait as you are well aware of the way Nigerian politicians do their things;i.e. not keeping the people informed.I hope this would change and once people could closely scrutinise the project, the buzz the project would generate would obviously strengthen the government's will to make sure it succeeds. IT's a massive project though and still, AI hope it succeeds. |

We need to start ensuring that communication gap between government and the people is bridged. I mean we live in the communication age, yet we continue to exist in darkness when it comes to how our government expects to build our future. For all we know, all that has been posted so far may be for projects geared more towards making companies comfortable in kaduna with little or no benefit in this for the people. Before we begin dey kill cow and plan party, make we ensure say na all of us go enjoy this kaduna city dream ooo. Lol |
