Samson, Lagos: Some armed thugs have reportedly hijacked ballot boxes on Ayilara Street in the Mushin area of Lagos. INEC officials told presmen that the thugs, after snatching the ballot box, emptied them in the gutter. The PUNCH learnt that the House of Reps and Senatorial ballot materials were affected, hence residents could not vote. An official said, “They came in a car. They also carried bottles and cutlasses. As soon as they hijacked the boxes, they poured them (papers) into the gutters and ran away in their car. House of Reps: PDP, 44; APC:143; APA:3; ACPN:1 MARCH 28, 20158:05 PM Charles and Joel, Lagos: INEC presiding officers were confronted with the odd challenge of collating results in darkness at the Owoseni Primary School Collation Centre from the various polling units in Oshodi as of 7:40pm. The ad hoc staff were seen gathering in clusters using their phone torchlights to collate the results because of the pitch darkness in the school premises. Our correspondents gathered that no provision was made for electricity in the area in the event of power failure. Lagos, Ejigbo 041 Polling Unit...finally after protest, materials arrived very late. Voting has been concluded. PDP - 170, APC - 79. Thank God I cast my vote and something that would have amounted to massive protest calmed after intervention of security and the INEC officials were compelled to get the presidential materials that they claimed were not available.
