Igbo For Senate President. by bokohalal(m): 2:41pm On Apr 01, 2015
A look at the looming political landscape of Nigeria will reveal the side lining of one of three major ethnic groups unless something drastic is immediately done to rectify it.
Since the first two political positions are occupied by an Hausa - Fulani and Yoruba as President and vice respectively, it would be in the interest of national unity and inclusiveness to allocate the third most powerful position, Senate President, to the third leg of the tripod, the Igbo.
Granted that the Eastern states overwhelming voted for the PDP and thus ensured that all the lawmakers in the Upper House of the National Assembly are all PDP legislators, the APC has a chance ,before the commencement of the new Assembly, to Nick a few present PDP elected lawmakers to the APC. Any of this lawmakers, preferably from Imo State, should forthwith be made the senate president.

It would be a political miscalculation on the part of the APC if they let this opportunity pass by them and there is no where in any other the major party's constitution zoning the Senate Presidency solely to Benue State.

How come Anambra people placed all their eggs in one basket? Senator Chris Ngige would have been a good choice if he was allowed to Win.

The election of Buhari and the impending change to a lackadaisical and incompetent administration is for all Nigerians. No group should be left behind in the goal of building a better Nigeria. Carrying everyone along is the first step.

Minority cannot rule over majority. Igbos will not have any political power in this regime.
Senate President, Deputy senate president, Speaker, deputy speaker, SSG, None will get to them.
Its a pity

Dreamers!

The Igbos had a chance but we blew it all because of an irrational and senseless hatred for the APC. Ngige was already tipped to be the senate president, being an old time senator from the SE but like they normally say, "hate eats up the soul of the hater."

Now Rochas the last Igbo man standing in the ruling party (APC) is about to be discarded all because of this same rabid but irrational hate for APC. His crime being that he supported a mallam against GEJ but I just laugh because these are the same people who also supported Yaradua just a few years back and who are ready to vote the same PDP when PDP fields an Hausa man in 2019.

Rochas being the only Igbo leader in APC and the most acceptable Igbo leader amongst other ethnic nationalities may just be the only hope of an Igbo presidency someday. But I doubt if the irrational hatred for APC will let us discard our myopia.

I agree that the Igbos blew it but no better chance than now to look for defectors from the PDP to APC. I trust Tinubu , Buhari and Oyegun to differ from your view.

Ibos made their bed, now they MUST lie on it! No one forced you to vote against APC, but now you want to benefit from their toil, hardwork and sweat? There was nothing dangerous when Ibos supported a man who watched 15K - 20K Nigerians killed and yet supported him! It could never be more dangerous to let Ibos go and work hard to gain political office and relevance! As it is, the Senate Presidency MUST stay in APC, with someone and a region that is all-legs and all-fingers in and not a loser people who are still dreaming of biafrua. Did the NC work hard for APC, heck they did, and if any APC strongman is there, he should get the seat! If Ibos don't like it, they can go and start working hard against 2019 and hope they come to vote with their brains functioning at that time. Again, the Yorubas you abuse and insult have shown you why they built an empire that lasted for more than 505 years while you were still in your forests, eating each other! The same Yorubas were responsible for giving Jonathan the opportunity to lead Nigeria from OBJ to Save Nigeria Group, but Ibos were quick to claim the credit for something they did not work for!

Well, in another 4 years time, would you still be begging for political relevance or you'd be working hard after learning from the behemoths of political sagacity and mental superiority in the South of Nigeria called the Yorubas! For a sensible people, you should be looking for a few of your smartest brains to go and learn under Asiwaju Tinubu, otherwise you'd be politically extinct soon!

So you want APC to abandon those that laboured with them for a newbie in the party and a defector all because you want APC to compensate your people's irrational and self inflicted political suicide ?

It will never happen! If you guys really want the senate Presidency then you should ask Ngige's opponent to resign and back out for the sake of the generality of the Ibo nation and the position will be yours.

Typing..

You may had wondered why the IGBOS are too resilient in their plight to be wealthy but never resilient in their unity as one. They only unite in the face of oppression but when it comes to personal desires, they fight and kill each other. The Uba brothers fought themselves during OBJ's regime for the governorship of Anambra, no elder, or royalty waded into their fight, rather they took sides.

Peter Obi dominated APGA for a very long time, APGA being the only concentrated IGBO party couldnt even get majority vote of any SENATORIAL SEAT or HOUSE OF REPS, lets excuse DELTA STATE because they claim not to be refered to as IGBO. Rochas and Peter Obi fell apart when ones ambition was not in line with the other. So Rochas moved to APC to see if he could realise his dreams. Eventually Peter Obi left APGA to PDP.

It is only fo.o.Ls (Igbos) that would forget history and try to use the present situation to steal some points. In Imo state the PDP has ruled and stolen money that Imo state was never developed. They said Imo state does not have money. But today we see changes being done there. why would they want PDP to come and rule.

If you love development, if you feel you deserve development as an IGBO person. If you feel the money meant to build your state is being stolen by certain group of people who would deceive you they have your interest at heart. Its better you stand up and tell your igbo clans that enough is enough. That you all no longer want to be treated as foo.L's.

For this to be actualize you all need to forget the hatred of the 1967-69 Civil war by General Gowon and start thinking towards the future, start thinking about accepting and mixing up with other tribes.

I hope you all have realised from the recent held election that the Igbo is irrelevant in Nigerian Politics of today. You all can't do it alone.

A word they say is enough for the wise.

I rest my case.

What kind of wild dream is this?...

How can a defector be trusted with such a sensitive post as senate president even in the face of other qualified party loyalists who struggled and won for the party?... If such an idea is ever attempted, it would lead to self destruction in the APC.

lol

These political infants dont know anything and that is why they always whine

It is not so simplistic or easy to just dash people who didnt work for anything political positions

The worst the SE can see in the incoming administration is the Speakership......which is contigent upon an APC House of Rep member from Imo State winning a return election into the House

Should that fail to happen,i am afraid.....the SE will only make do with Ministerial positions,Ambassadorial and Board appointments

Even if Uche Ekwunife decamps to APC......Chris Ngige might block her being made anything in the Senate due to the fact that PDP massively rigged the elections in Anambra even to the chagrin of its foster child APGA

I will forever respect Ngige and Okorocha, for being visionary enough to see the New Dawn coming, but they lack the political clout to convince their kinsmen to see same.

Let us see how PDP will cope as an opposition party. Let us see how stable and sustainable PDP can be in the next 4years?

Igbos committed another major political suicide by allowing PPA and now APGA to go into extinction.

Glad to know you're from Edo State. The biggest loser in this contest is Senator Domingo Obende representing Edo North. When he sought re-election, Oshiomole betrayed him. He has been a Senator since 2011 and I've been projecting him for the Senate Presidency before the Primaries. If Oshiomole had allowed him to win the Primaries, he would have been the only APC Senator from the two regions, ie, SE/SS because the APC Candidate, Francis Alimikhena won the Election here. But being a 1st term Senator, he wouldn't have the legislative experience to seek for the Office of the President of the Senate or other Principal Positions. Oshiomole's selfish interest beclouded his sense of reasoning... He knows APC would win the Presidency and if Domingo should win, he might be made the President of the Senate or other Principal Officer, as such, Oshiomole wouldn't be able to get the Senate Ticket come 2019!!

The division has deepen more than you bargained for the moment your people refused to CHANGE...look at it, no single senator from the south east from APC...or are you saying the minority should e placed over the majority since the APC is now in the majority at the senate...would PDP have allowed that to happen?
