BlackBaron:

Oh great!
Now I've heard it all...

Was expecting better retorts to be honest.
My initial question was 'why the previous government was lax'... Goal posts got moved to how about what Mr Buhari bought and now to prove how much was given to them by ONSA or Finance Ministry (so a case can be proven against them)

Pilfering of liquid funds 'allocated' is what we are talking about here. I don't belong to the crew of $2.1 billion embezzlement believers. Rather I'm all for knowing the percentage of released funds that got utilised for the actual purpose it was meant for.
Sir, by all means...Since you asked me a question, I'm guessing you know, please reel out what got released and got used.

Simples.

Since you asked nicely, and is properly educated as regards the matter, i'll indulge you.

The NSA, under Dasuki, misappropriated , according to
publicly available records, about $322m or so.
Yet, everyday, the propaganda machinery keeps pumping
out $2.1b theft.

Every single testimony from the EFCC , as well as from the
former finance minister, clearly states that sum of money in
contention was $322m from the Abacha loot that she signed
over to NSA for Boko haram war.
These are the FACTS.

If Dasuki stole or misappropriated $322m, that is the fact.

That is criminal.

That fact is bad enough.

It needs NO embellishments.

It needs NO exaggerations.

It needs NO embarrassing LIES.

Good,

I now know another about Dasuki smiley

Now anyone worth his salt in education would have been able to sieve out the improbability of $2.1 billion surrounding Dasuki and co. My mention this morning started about Mr Badeh's diversion of Airforce funds of #500 million monthly just before everything started 'flying in through the window'.

In the case of Mr Dasuki you've stated and the case of Badeh's whose case I posted this morning...'Both from EFCC testimony(ies)'

My question this morning still goes thus...
'why was the last government so lax?'...for pilfering to occur?

I don't get the eagerness to divert my 'question' with what 'Mr Buhari' did or what ONSA released?

Besides, questions still remains about budgeted sums for defence procurement in tandem with whats on ground in previous years versus whats available, however until facts emerges, I have not pointed fingers. But for today, Mr Badeh's the issue and those are the kind of 'diversionary retorts' I get

I dont know why people are still interested in any new U.S. linked procurements like the Tucano when it has been shown time and again that the West (U.S, U.K. and France) cannot be trusted or relied upon. In your darkest hour, they will not only abandon you, they will frustrate and then ridicle you. And if you check carefully, you might see thier hand behind many of your miseries.

Whatever the capabilities of the Tucano, impressive or cost effective as they may be, we should not buy them, full stop.

This information is not new, it's just another loot that was discovered when former minister of finance was squeezed to provide how abacha's recovered loot was spent. She replied with evidence showing that so much was given to ONSA.
You have only added another but the $2.1 billion is real.

Amechi e.t.c are all corrupt politicians........!

But why divert issues to other political/economical matters, like the recent rice in fuel and tomato price. Lets stick to the loot made by these military chief and top politicians. Since that was the question BlackBaron asked initially.......... grin

Ok boss, let's conflate human lives to the cost of tomatoes to demonstrate 'laxity'!

Surely the rot wasn't started from Jonathan, but with stories like this showing hard nosed thieving in the middle of a war, I got to ask that question.

Highest oil levels and we still barely scratched the surface in levels of hardware.

For all I care, the new president would have been better as EFCC chairman seeing his handling of other sectors but this is a military topic and I sure would ask over again as to what Jonathan was doing.

These was his initial question or point of view....!!!

Mr Badeh isn't my concern, all those who have looted public funds should be punished as the law describes. One of my concerns is the attempt by this government to push propaganda as facts.

What is budgeted for and what is actually released are two different things.

Has the "pilfering" ended with this government or did defence related corruption start with the past regime?

The past government actually did more in improving Nigeria's collective defence than any other regime since Shagari. This is a fact!!

Oga Henry,

I know how you feel and i share your views. However, I guess the other guys also have a point. It is scary to think people can divert money for arms while boys are going to war with 30 AK 47 rounds per man and little or no heavy support.

Having said that lets maintain the sanctity of this thread. Lets remember, nobody is corrupt until proven so. All the media trial going on today will lead to nothing!! The only thing that will mean anything is the judgement of the law courts and i think we should all wait and see what can be proved by the prosecuting parties. It is dangerous to assume that just because FG says someone is guilty then he is, dont forget that most people in FG are politicians and most of the people under trial today are opposition. Every accusation must be proven to the satisfaction of the court because am sure we all know that politicians (both FG and opposition) are not always as truthful as they should be.

Make we try close this matter and focus on Defense and Security issues.

Buratai speaks on resolving Nigeria's security issues

 – Lt. Gen. Burtai has outlined his hopes for resolving the current security situation  – The Nigerian army chief has outlined his expectation for Nigeria’s security issues to be resolved soon  – His comments come shortly after the rescue of two of the Chibok girls The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has spoken out to insist that the security problems Nigeria currently faces will be resolved in the near future. The general made the comments at the opening ceremony of the 16th annual conflict management seminar themed, ‘Harnessing the diverse expertise of government and non-governmental organisations in rebuilding the socio-economic life of post conflict communities: North Eastern Nigeria in perspective.’ General Buratai, represented by General Officer Commanding of 81 Division of the Nigerian army, Major General Henry Edet, ventilated his belief that the crème of officers present at the seminar would be able to brainstorm on how best to provide seamless logistics support across the nation.

The Army chief, who regretted that Boko Haram since it started its campaign of terror had destroyed hundreds of lives and properties worth millions of Naira including schools, worship centres and villages, hinted to participants at the seminar that robust steps had been taken to checkmate the activities of terrorist groups and other criminal elements in the country. Specifically, he said, there is significant improvement on inter-agency co-operation, particularly in terms of intelligence gathering and sharing.

“Similarly, our force structure is now more robust in terms of manpower and logistics support to effectively counter growing insecurity, not only in the North East but also other parts of the country. “I want to seize this opportunity to once again advise mischief makers and criminals to shun violence and all forms of criminality as offenders will surely be made to face the full wrath of the law. “No reason can justify needless and wanton bloodshed which our country has witnessed in recent times. The general’s comments come shortly after the rescue of two of the Chibok girls who were abducted by Boko Haram two years ago. Shortly after the rescues, Nigerian army troops announced they had killed 35 Boko Haram terrorists in the Sambisa Forest.
