* Hardship Allowance (50% of B.S) - N1,242,122.70
* Constituency Allowance (200% of B.S) - N4,968,509.00

* TOTAL MONTHLY SALARY = N29,479,749.00 ($181,974.00)

In terms of lawmakers’ salaries as a ratio of GDP per capita, the gap is even much wider. While the salary of a Nigerian lawmaker is 116 times the country’s GDP per person, that of a British member of parliament is just 2.7 times.

The average salary of Nigerian worker based on the national minimum wage is N18,000.00, So, the yearly salary is N18,000.00 x 12 = N216,000.00 ($1,333.00)
Remember, Yearly Salary of Nigerian Senator = $2,183,685.00.
Proportion: $2,183,685.00/$1,333.00 = 1,638
It will take an average Nigerian worker 1,638 years to earn the yearly salary of a Nigerian Senator.

Greedy senators. Who even approved this salary for them in the first place? This is part of the major problem Nigeria is facing and that's why these Senators kill themselves to get to that seat.

I hope President-Elect can do the needful sha

Seriously, if buhari can cut down on this I will know he means business.
However, I am really anxious for that 1$-1N matter. I want to experience the magic big time.

Do they offer internet allowance cost then I might just contest.

But seriously, the international community will be laughing at us the way you laugh at a boy flaunting money in school but who asks for assistance in exams. Why would they want to help us when our lawmakers earn 10 to 15 times their lawmakers' salary. To them it's like we will never learn so why waste precious resources on fools. Smh

Your list I believe is not far from the truth.
@chocolateme do you truly want a change

If yes what we want is a revolution in Nigeria. The one that will see youth taking over the government. A one million march to Abuja can do this...just as we have seen in some countries lately.

Are you ready?

Wait a minute, so u want buhari to tell the senate and house of rep members to pass a law that wud cut their salaries? This Is not a military dictatorship.

So u mean these legislators wud just agree to what reduce there salaries jus becuz of buhari. Jus like that? Come on men!

Some of these men killed to get there. Some stole massivesly, other stole to get there. So I don't see them taking any action that wud make them lose that juicy position

Buhari is not a magician. Thoses thieving politicians nor send u. Only time wud begin out their true color

Buhari got elected on an anti-corruption platform. It will be interesting to see how he will fight corruption. I don't think a lot Nigerians realise that fighting corruption,particularly in a country like Nigeria where it entrenched, is a life and death issue. When you fight corruption,it fights back. A lot of people are where they are in life because of corruption and they are not prepared to back to porverty no matter what Buhari does. To fight corruption,Buhari will need to throw most of the APC and PDP leadership in jail and this is like fighting your own shadow. We wait to to see what Buhari does. Fighting corruption is not drinking fura de nunu.

WTH? I think making political offices less juicy will really go a long way in curbing corruption and what have you. What the hell is 'hardship allowance'? Even newspaper allowance sef, how often do these folks buy newspapers when Infact, they make the news. Why can't they use their outrageous salary to do that. Now I know why people kill themselves for such.

we can start it 1-2-3-4-5...! people. Most time it has always been something that even one person started.

The masses needs someone or some people to stir or push them.

This is y politics is a do or die affair in Nigeria angry

This is d first thing I expect buhari to do ie cut down d salary of political office holders by 80 percent n the office will become less financially attractive. A salary of 2m per month to include all allowances shld b a good start undecided

Furthermore having a bicarmel national assembly is a big waste. D house of reps shld b closed n only senators allowed to make laws
