A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has restrained MULTI CHOICE NIGERIA LIMITED - operators of DIGITAL SATELLITE TELEVISION from implementing its new rates and an increase in tariffs payable by its subscribers across board.
On Thursday, 2nd of April, 2015, Justice Aneke had, in a Suit filed by two Lagos - based Legal Practitioners, OSASUYI ADEBAYO AND OLUYINKA OYENIJI, certified SUIT NO. FHC/L/CS/404/2015 AS A CLASS ACTION and granted the interim Orders till the hearing of the Motion on Notice for Injunction on the 16th of April, 2015. He also ordered for the Suit and Interim Injunction to be published in national newspapers.
Both Legal Practitioners are challenging the arbitrary increase in tariffs as well as urging the Honourable Court to order the NATIONAL BROADCASTING COMMISSION - the 2nd Defendant to implement PAY PER VIEW where subscribers choose their programmes and pay as they watch which is being implemented all over the world.

Nice move by the judicary. Lets even hope they sanction them for the in-ordinate exobitant money they charge. The issue is curruption, had it not been Nigeria is suppose to have digitatized our T.v broadcasting that way no much need for them, infact i suspect them Dstv'z of sabotage.

This is very good to hear. Their own don too much, haba! Our yeye lawmakers no fit open their mouth say something because dem don collect abi?!. I fact our next move is to investigate who the committee for communication in the senate and house of reps are, bring their names to limelight and use social media to blast the mofos! Because there is no way Dstv will announce such increase without seeking their consent at least. Those guys don't know what it takes to pay 13,980 for the premium bouquet. Abeg who sabi the committee members make we start throwing bombs on social media. These people think say na like before, dem no sabi say levels don change. We are no more gullible, we refuse to be, our voices must be heard, they can't take us for fools no more, let's go people!
