John Oyegun, the national chairman of All
Progressive Congress (APC), said on Saturday that
the gale of defections by politicians was not good
for Nigeria’s political development.

Mr. Oyegun, who spoke to newsmen in Benin
shortly after casting his vote, advised those
defecting to the winning party to rather form a
formidable opposition to enrich the nation’s
democracy.

“Many opposition party members have defected to
APC just because they lost out, that is not good for
political development.

“One would have advised that opposition members
should stay where they are, and form a formidable
opposition party.” Mr. Oyegun said.

He described the governorship and houses of
assembly elections as “the most decent, orderly and
peaceful” ever conducted in Edo.

Meanwhile, the APC national chairman won the
election in his polling unit. Oredo East: Ward 2,
Unit 1 Polling Unit, the first time since 1991 when
he was elected governor.

good

In other news:

The Oba of Lagos might have played a very fast mind trick on us here and we all fell for it. Just read below:
Mrs Bamidele wrote: " 6 out of 10 Igbos actually believe they will drown in the lagoon if they do not vote Ambode. 8 out of 10 believed their business will be affected by their vote. 2 out of 10 says their lives might be in danger if they vote, while 4 out of 10 are afraid the traditional rulers in their neighborhood will evict them or make them uncomfortable. All respondents felt the ethnic nature of the campaign is damaging to their interests. The result from Yoruba respondents is very revealing. 8 out of 10 are angry about the "no man's land" mantra. 7 out of 10 said the Oba spoke their mind. 4 out of 10 said the Oba was tactless. 8 out of 10 felt the impact will be long lasting "

Rather than advise politicians to stop defecting, I think you should instead raise the bar and make the process of defecting to ur party stringent.

Even if they decamp to APC, please make sure they are not given any position of note - make them irrelevant.

Coming to reap where they did not sow, after all their vile propaganda & divisive politics.

You should have told the likes of obj, atiku, oyinlola et all so form a strong opposition or stay with their parties. Your party achieved their sole aim(the seat of the presidency), u now know there's no room for defectors. SMDH.
Btw, I don't support any polical party, I support individual.

I hate political prostitutes and AGIPS(Any Government in Power). They show their lack of Ideology and incapacity and are not fit to rule even a flock of sea birds. God bless Nigeria!

I don't do politics but atleast I know that Nigeria's politics is stagnant. Almost every 'saint' today in APC was once a PDP 'devil'. I vote for persons, I don't vote parties.

It's a bit late for this message - most of the northern politicians have already defected.

If they wish to have a bonafide party they should state their principles, goals and plan of action.

At the moment they look like another cabal of thieves.
