1) Swedish Choir Singing Christmas Hymn in Igbo: Amuworo Ayi otu nwa

'For unto us a child is born' catholic hymn was flawlessly rendered by a Swedish choir in Igbo language - Amuworo ayi otu nwa.

The intonations and pronunciations were excellent!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73n-XaXQGFM&feature=share

The choir, Viavitae.

Big ups to the oyibos singing in Igbo perfectly!

The lyrics goes thus:

Amuworo ayi otu nwa - unto us a child is born
Otu nwa nwoke ka e nyeworo ayi - a male child that was given unto us
Chineke, Chineke - God the creator, God the creator
Otu nwa ka e nyeworo ayi - a child that was given unto us.

Anything is possible!

Translated in Italian:

TRADUZIONE (rid.)
Vieni e ascolta la storia del Figlio di Dio
che è morto sulla croce per te

Vieni e purificati nel sangue di Gesù Cristo
che è morto sulla croce per te

Fratello, vieni,
ascolta la storia del figlio di Dio.
Nato a Betlemme da una vergine,
il più grande Maestro
predicò il regno del Padre
e compiva miracoli:
l'acqua si mutava in vino,
i ciechi vedevano,
gli storpi camminavano
e i lebbrosi venivano mondati

Vieni, e ascolta la storia
del Signore Gesù

Awww....too bad bro. You're terribly missing out on a perfect rendition of an Igbo hymn like native Igbo speakers with no detectable 'accents' whatsoever! cool

If this was just an audio recording I would have sworn that this was a church choir from somewhere in Ala Igbo. Nice one by the Swedes!

My problem with catholic church is, the few times I attend mass, there keep changing to unknown languages all the time, I hardly know if what there are saying is in spanish, latin, greek or ibibio. The father recites stuffs in a scary barritone, everyone answers!undecided {that's the point were I look so clueless} I know that's how some swed's wud be feeling right now . All the same, its cool our language is recognised ova there. smiley

Good but I think the Yoruba language, literature and music still remains the foremost in Africa.
There are Germans playing gangan a Yoruba percussion instrument, Titilayo oyibo e.t.c.
God bless the Yorubaland.
Yoruba my motherland.
