Perhaps political parties can be forgiven for denying the achievements of the opposition but I'm not so sure it is wise for citizens to do so just as absolutely as the parties they support. If for instance people deny that Johnathan made improvements to Nigeria what is the incentive for the Next party in power to improve upon anything. If Johnathan built ten houses for the poor but you claim he built none so forcefully that people accept this as truth, the next man will have no incentive to build twenty houses for the poor.

Sometimes these exaggerations return to hunt us. I recall when people used to claim that Abacha stole Billion upon Billions of naira's -dollars- worth instead of declaring exactly what he stole. In those days the West added salt and pepper to the tale so that people would quote that he stole trillions of dollars without batting an eyelid. Now because of all the exaggerations there are people that will never be content with the amount of stolen money returned to Nigeria unless it runs into billions. They will cry bloody murder and will always be convinced the West is holding onto some more of Abacha stolen money. I too am of this opinion and who can blame me.
