The Allegations Against The FCT Minister’s Sons by amhedeen: 5:42pm On Apr 18, 2015
For the past few weeks, Nigerian print and online media has been awash with stories filled with spurious allegations against the family of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed.
The stories include allegations that two of his sons, Shamsudeen and Ibrahim, have stashed N35billion in bank accounts in Unity Bank and United Bank for Africa (UBA) (containing N10billion) and in an offshore account in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (containing N25billion) said to be acquired by illegal means and are sums paid for contracts from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) gotten through various fronts and proxies.
The stories also allege that another source of funds that the sons of the FCT Minister are involved in land racketeering where they ask for funds transfer and land allocation in any part of the Federal Capital Territory. They are also said to wield so much power that directors in the ministry are at their beck and call.
Furthermore, they allege that Shamsudeen, the first son of the minister was involved in a hit-and-run accident where the victim, a certain Mark Musa lost his life, an incident which is alleged to have been covered up by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) on the orders of the minister who further threatened the parents of the deceased into silence.
It also went further to accuse Ibrahim Mohammed of being one of the sponsors of car racing activities, which has been banned by the FCTA under the leadership of Senator Mohammed.
We wish to state that these allegations are spurious, baseless and the imaginative work of mischievous minds.
Never at any time have either Shamsudeen or Ibrahim Mohammed been involved in the operations of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), not to mention issuing orders to directors within the ministry.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has a clear line of authority in accordance with Federal Civil Service Rules, with directors within ministries receiving orders only from those higher than them i.e. permanent secretaries and ministers. Thus, it is highly inconceivable that directors will take orders from persons who are not even staff of the administration.
Not only that, no member of the Mohammed family has either been involved in illegal car racing events or in a hit-and-run accident anywhere at any time.
Additionally, neither Senator Bala Mohammed nor any member of his family is involved in any land racketeering nor operates illegal bank accounts where proceeds from money obtained fraudulently is stashed. Shamsudeen and Ibrahim Bala Mohammed are both law-abiding Nigerian citizens who earn honest livings.
Shamsudeen is an aeronautical engineer and an executive director in Jasmine Realty International Limited, a company he founded and duly registered in 2011 and through which he has established himself as a successful entrepreneur. He has been financially independent of his father since the completion of his Master’s Degree in Ukraine in 2009.
As a matter of fact, these allegations which have been widely published are the subject of legal made by lawyers to Shamsudeen Mohammed against the Leadership Newspapers, Pointblanknews.com and other online news media because of their attempt to maliciously depict him as corrupt, shady, and fraudulent in their publications.
It is disheartening that media organizations will set out concertedly to tarnish the image of two young, hardworking men whose only ‘crime’ has been that their father answered the call to service of our nation. Rather than celebrate their efforts in building sustainable enterprises that will add to the Nigerian economy, they have instead been accused falsely of corruption and abuse of power.
Our media houses need to have their verifiable facts before publishing so that they do not risk ruining hard-earned reputations.

People are good in sitting at home and bringing others down, if they have a valid evidence to those claims, let them go to the right quarters and complain and not on the media

Its Only in Nigeria that government officials kids are seen as criminals or fraudulent, our mentality are so crowded with negativity that we no longer focus on important issues that will move our great country forward but go around stocking social media accounts of Government officials kids looking for a post to misquote. We forget that they dint choose the family they would be in just as you and i, its should not be a curse but a blessing. Shamshudeen the ministers son is a hard working entrepreneur and a family man, who works hard to take care of his family, it is possible that his dad's position in the government boosted his personal business but since when did that become a crime. We should stop looking for something to tier each other down rather we should support one another. This is to the media: if you have a problem with the minister administration shoot at him directly. Leave his family out of it.

Senator Bala Mohammed and his children are thieves and I hope General Buhari makes a fine example of them when he comes into office.
