I have this computer with windows7, I don't know if it's the system or windows that drains my megabyte rapidly whenever I make use of it, and I don't do heavy browsing, I can't even use 500mb for a week. Please I need your advice if you ever had this experience in the past.

your computer might have have been infected by a trojan horse with a backdoor access, thereby replicating files on ur computer and also causing ur increasin ur internet data usage such usually occurs when u downloaded a free software online. Check ur task manager and look for any suspicious file running.

I had same issue last week, but resolved it after some careful studies. One, change your ISP, MTN and GLO are heavy data gobblers, their bandtwidth indicators on the GUI keeps running even when i havent launched a browser, all updates turned off. My router is high end and i see all traffics through port 80 is nil, but the MTN/Glo interface keeps reading(heard its a network manipulattion at their end.Try etisalat or spectranet, they are more reliable.Two, do your browsing on the older win xp. I noticed its more bandwidth friendly than win 7. You could do dual installation of both win xp and 7 on your computer.

not true..MTN has d best data consumption rate...500mb in a week! And d OP is complaining! Did he want to use 500mb on PC in a month b4? I use 500mb in 3days witout downloading nd witout complaining. And again he uses Windows 7 dat even consume lesser data. If it was windows 8 dat he was using and complaining, I wuld hav said let me come in. Bt 500mb for less dan a week is not in anyway near excess

BFore now, my mtn 1GB was used up in four days, glo 500mb dey finish in two days. For now its etisalat for me.Be practical, try browse with xp and win 7, see which one consumes less data. Why do u think cafes stick to win xp all these years and they refuse to let go. Please do a trial of the two and share your result.

2. Etisalat follows, as the network is fast so do they zap d mb in fast rate

3. Glo consumer almost normal.

4. MTN consumes least, sometimes I use 50mb bt dey even deduct 25mb. So i dnt knw wht u ar saying. Ask any oda person he wil tel u same. I sleep on the internet nd make use of all networks as a technical person. Do ur research wel

Thanks for your concern. I have never used it to download any software online,any other possible cause?

I guess its a case of different stroke for different folks.Another mans meat is another mans poison. Thanks 4 sharing ur experience anyways.My chosen network suits me, MTN, GLO, Airtel are no, no,no for me.
