The thing is that we focused so much on the presidency in this country, letting other arms and tiers go scot-free. Have the media queried the national assemble the reason why the PIB is still lying there in their chambers?.

The blame is on the majority PDP house of assembly which also has a sitting president. Either way you look at it the blame can never be separated from the failings of Jonathan Ebele. This bill would have benefited his region massively and he as a right to ensure his people gets what rightfully belongs to them. You can not force the northerners to give you what you have in your palms yet refuse to give yourself. He could have traded the PIB for his second term ambition.Image how much wealth that would bring to the NigerDelta ? Jonathan Ebele is just politically daft in all and every ramification.

Thank you! That information was correct as at time of postage. However, kudos to the government of Jonathan for following the path of wisdam to diitch away the cabals and successfully bring down the subsidy payment to N100b as reflected in the 2015 budget proposal. Meanwhile those cabals are GMB backers...

To the PIB, what you copied and pasted aren't related to PIB. It's a shame you are bringing subsidy matter into PIB. It shows you have no clue on the subject.

Ciao

1. Who are the cabals that are now GMB's backers that you talk about? Please be specific.

2. How is the subsidy matter completely unrelated to the PIB? Is the PIB not meant to tackle the scam as well if implemented?

Besides, this thread is about achievements of Madueke as the petroleum minister and not about PIB which just happen to be a subject under the topic. So, my post is in order.

Moot and dumb rhetorics. PDP were the majority party in the NA plus the man at the centre belonged to the same party. He can hold meetings with the party leadership especially the one's in the NA and convince them on the need to pass the bill. David Mark and co would have come in handy. He would have arranged a meeting with the CEOs of the IOCs to try to understand their grouse with the bill and to find common ground where necessary. He should have spoken to certain thinkTanks in Nigeria to see their views on the issues and where tweaks could have been made. For e.g, I understand that no aspect of the bill pushes for Good insurance benefits for Indigenous workers in Indigenous firms. This aspect would certainly benefit Nigerians.

Also the aspect of increasing taxation may not make sense seeing that the IOCs were forced to cater to their own security, electricity and yet still give cutthroat bribes to govt officials in the name of racketeering and thus upping the cost of producing crude etc. So GEJ could have created a better working environment for them by dealing with the above before talking about increased taxes.

He had a lot of roles to play and no SaTANoid can absolve him of that duty.
Let's see who is dumb...
1. In 2011 the leadership of the House was pro-ACN/APC as reflected in the choice of leadership. In fact, the Tambawal led house has always been at loggerhead with GEJ led executive.

2. The bill was "tribalised" by legislators from a particular section due to some provision that will benefit the host communities(oil communities).

3. The IOCs were adamant of the status quo to remain because it will mean less revenue for them and more for the locals.

4. Go get a copy of the bill to understand 1, 2 and 3.

The falling out between Kola Aluko and Diezani Alison-Madueke

Multi-millionairre Oil magnate, Kola Aluko, is soon be on the wanted list of International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) following his failure to return to Nigeria to answer questions on his business deals, TheCable reports.

It’s the worst kept secret that Kola Aluko, who is well known around the world for his lifestyle has fallen out of a relationship with some very well connected people including his very close confidante Alison-Madueke.

Unconfirmed rumours have circulated stories for years that he is a front for the Minister of petroleum resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke and according to stories by TheCable, the founder of Fossil Resources, a downstream company, and co-director of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited, an upstream company was informed that federal government has decided to enlist Interpol to arrest and bring him back to Nigeria……check this out….. “to vomit what he has swallowed”.

TheCable went on to add that “It is mainly an issue of breach of trust, breach of a gentleman’s agreement,” a source ─ who is in the know of the deals ─ said. It was initially understood that the oil deals he was getting ─ including mining licences and crude oil trading ─ were meant to finance political campaigns. Hundreds of millions of dollars were moved out of the country through banks and bureaux de change by some Nigerian-owned oil companies, Aluko’s inclusive. There is much more to read.

Young oil magnate, Kola Aluko, will soon be on the wanted list of International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) following his failure to return to Nigeria to answer questions on his business deals, TheCable has been informed. Aluko, who is known for his love for yachts, private jets, fast cars and lavish parties ─ and has been seen hand-in-hand with supermodel Naomi Campbell (pictured) ─ has fled the country and is currently holed up in Switzerland, where he has citizenship. The founder of Fossil Resources, a downstream company, and co-director of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited, an upstream company, has been making tabloid headlines for his astonishing wealth and was recently listed on Forbes 40 richest Africans. However, he has had a dramatic falling out with the minister of petroleum resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, and his assets in Nigeria are now a target for confiscation. TheCable was told that the federal government has decided to enlist Interpol to arrest and bring him back to Nigeria “to vomit what he has swallowed”. Industry sources informed TheCable that Aluko, who has been named in many controversial deals in the oil sector, might have played “a fast one” on Alison-Madueke. “It is mainly an issue of breach of trust, breach of a gentleman’s agreement,” a source ─ who is in the know of the deals ─ said. It was initially understood that the oil deals he was getting ─ including mining licences and crude oil trading ─ were meant to finance political campaigns. Bureaux de change Over a stretch of time, hundreds of millions of dollars were moved out of the country through banks and bureaux de change by some Nigerian-owned oil companies, Aluko’s inclusive. Two banks were used to launder the funds out of the country, and, curiously, one of the suspected CEOs has now been given a major political appointment in the financial sector. Trouble started for Aluko when he bought a £150 million yacht last year and it became a global media sensation. This particular development raised eyebrows in the corridors of power. “The long and short of it is that Aluko can no longer account for all the money that he shipped out. That was the beginning of his problems,” another source, a senior official at the ministry of petroleum, said. Alison-Madueke was “shocked and destabilised at the betrayal” and swiftly moved against the 44-year-old’s businesses. “Kola ran out of the country when they started demanding the cash. He claimed he had already remitted billions and there was nothing to be remitted again. This is one of the biggest scandals in Nigeria since 2010,” the official said. Yachts Aluko owns luxury property in very expensive and exclusive neighbourhoods across New York, Beverly Hills, London, Las Vegas, Dubai, Paris, Monaco and Miami. He also owns the Galactica Star Yacht, which he acquired in June 2013. Galactica Star is a one-of-its-kind custom-built Super Yacht. The 65-metre-long play boat is the newest and largest Heesen yacht ever built. All these luxury expenses are believed to have created a big hole for him, although he insisted to friends that he had taken “enough” care of the interest of his principals. Aluko was a beneficiary of controversial oil deals in 2010. A company he has interest in, Septa Energy, a subsidiary of Seven Energy, got oil mining licences for some blocks formerly operated by Shell. Operatorship Under the relevant laws, the ownership of the blocks was to revert to the federal government through the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) but the NNPC subsidiary claimed it did not have the funds to operate them. Subsequently, the operatorships of the seven blocks were handed over to a consortium of local companies without any competitive bidding, and the companies were in turn given crude allocation as “equity payment” by NPDC under the Strategic Alliance Agreement (SAA). However, industry experts and anti-corruption campaigners questioned the wisdom of the deal, especially as it was later discovered that these companies leveraged on the same oil blocks to raise the needed finance. NPDC could have adopted the same financing option without having to involve the companies and having to pay them with crude oil for its own share of the cost, they argued. To worsen matters, it was calculated that the nation lost $750 million in the deal, as the companies were allowed to pay only $50 million to the federation account instead of the real value of $800 million. TheCable could not reach either Alison-Madueke or Aluko. While calls to Aluko’s mobile phone did not go through, the minister did not reply messages sent to her phone. The bulk stops at the president table. Just as he is the ultimate beneficiary of successes is the way he is responsible for failures.

If the president hold the PIB very dearly to his heart, he will surely find his way around it especially when his party controls both houses.

So, please stop looking for excuses.

President Clinton held the health reform 1993, so dear to his heart, with a democratic majority in both the house and senate yet he failed to persuade the congress to pass the bill.

I do not exempt GEJ from criticism concerning the PIB however, I think that part of the blame should also go to the legislators... I don't think that anybody actually know the reason why the bill haven't been passed yet. We don't have a culture of debate.. we see everything from the angle of region, religion and party.

1. The fact that you cannot even name a single cabal now backing GMB is a pointer that you just made that statement to have something to say.

2. Like I said, the PIB is meant to address a range of issues of which the subsidy payment is a significant part of. If the PIB is operational, the subsidy will sooner or later be discarded.

I don't mind visiting your blog if you will address issues objectively. If all you will put up there will be to attack every GMB's move, count me out. Political analysts are known to be fair and mostly non-partisan. hope you get my drift.

You and your penchant for making moot and shallow points.

1. In 2011, you were anti-GEJ, today you are not. Stop convoluting ideas. The leadership of the House wasn't Pro-APC/ACN. Some members like Tambuwal made their decisions post 2012.

2. The whole "host communities funds" was overplayed. Part of the new bill concentrated on areas aiming to disband some of the percentages due to the hosts. Things would have balanced out. If people like you and the so-called tribalised legislators simply studied the bill.

3. Lies. All IOCs want fair ground to compete and make revenue. You cannot just jump to increasing their taxes without first solving the issues why their taxes weren't that high to begin with. It's just commonsense.

4. What a feeble cop-out. I put it to you that you do not even know what the bill encompasses let alone understand what was said there in.
