Some Amazing Facts About Bahamas, Dubai, And Barbados. by Nobody: 7:26pm On Apr 23, 2015
The Bahamas 'Great Land of the Valiant & Noble Lord' officially the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, is an island country of the Lucayan Archipelago consisting of more than 700 islands, cays , and islets in the Atlantic Ocean, north of Cuba and Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic ), northwest of the Turks and Caicos Islands, southeast of the U.S. state of Florida and east of the Florida Keys. Its capital is Nassau on the island of New Providence. The designation of "Bahamas" can refer to either the country or the larger island chain that it shares with the Turks and Caicos Islands. As
stated in the mandate/manifesto of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force , the Bahamas territory encompasses 470,000 km2(180,000 sq mi) of ocean space. Originally inhabited by the Lucayan, a branch of the Arawakan speaking Taino people, the Bahamas were the site of Columbus first landfall in the New World in 1492. Although the Spanish never colonized the Bahamas, they shipped the native Lucayans to slavery in Hispaniola. The islands were mostly deserted from 1513 until 1648, when English colonists from Bermuda settled on the island of Eleuthera. The Bahamas became a British Crown colony in 1718, when the British clamped down on piracy. After the American War of Independence, the Crown resettled thousands of American Loyalists in the Bahamas, they brought their slaves with them and established plantations on land grants. Blacks comprised the majority of the population from this period. The Bahamas became a haven for freed black slaves, the Royal Navy resettled Africans here liberated from illegal slave ships American slaves and Black Seminoles escaped here from Florida, and the government freed American slaves carried on United States domestic ships that had reached the Bahamas due to weather. Slavery in the Bahamas was abolished in 1834. Today the descendants of slaves and free
Africans make up nearly 90 percent of the population, issues related to the slavery years are part of society.
The Bahamas became an independent Commonwealth realm in 1973, retaining Queen Elizabeth II as its monarch. In terms of gross domestic product per capita, the Bahamas is one of the richest countries in the Americas (following the United States and Canada). Its economy is based on tourism and
finance.

Bahamas which comprises of an archipelago of 700 islands, English-speaking nation is situated in the Atlantic Ocean, spreading over an astounding area of 13,878 km(Land) . All the islands of the archipelago are low lying, with flat surface. The highest point in the country is Mount Alvernia, also known as Como Hill and has an altitude of 63m. Lol, imagine how rich those guys are.

Definitely, just that we Africans are greedy generally, one person will want to take or pocket what can sustain millions of citizens for years alone. Imagine one politician stealing Billions of naira, one million naira in a thousand places makes a Billion naira. So if you have a Billion naira and you are spending one million naira daily, its gonna take you 2years and about 7months fo finish a billion naira. 365 days makes a year ×2 = 730days. One million daily = #730M.

Someone having a job of #100k/month which is not easy to get now, if you save the salary for 35yrs (till retirement) without touching a dime, including annual increments, allowances, promotions bonus and so on. It about #50M or so, that's almost 3months salary of a senator in Nigeria or what some politicians will make in days.

Barbados is a sovereign island country in the Lesser Antilles . It is 34 kilometres (21 mi) in length and up to 23 kilometres (14 mi) in width, covering an area of 432 square kilometres (167 sq mi). Barbados was visited by Spanish navigators in the late 15th century and claimed for the Spanish Crown . It first appears on a Spanish map from 1511. The Portuguese visited the island in 1536, but they left it unclaimed, with their only remnants being an introduction of wild hogs for a good supply of meat whenever the island was visited. An English ship, the Olive Blossom, arrived in Barbados in 1625, its men took possession of it in the name of King James I. In 1627 the first permanent settlers arrived from England, and it became an English and later British colony. In 1966 Barbados became an independent state and
Commonwealth realm , retaining Queen Elizabeth II as
Head of State. It has a population of 277,821 people, mostly of African descent.
