Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, was conspicuously absent at the 5th and last Presidential Prayer Breakfast Saturday.

There are speculations that Dame Patience Jonathan did not attend the significant presidential prayer due to her husband’s defeat at the March 28 poll. Dame has always attended the presidential breakfast prayer, an initiative of her husband, ​President Goodluck Jonathan.



​The outspoken first lady, who will not allow any issue pass her by without giving awkward response, has significantly stayed out of spotlight and has not made any public appearance after her husband’s failed re-election bid. Recall that Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, won the election.​

​​​Mrs. Jonathan w​as also absent at the Easter ​church ​celebrations and has since not made any appearances at event she would normally attend.

Aside from the outspokenness of the first lady, the failed re-election bid has also costed her the position of the president of the Association of African First Ladies. The association which comprised of wives of presidents of all African countries.
