They do raise a good point....... Those responsible for the unfortunate incident have yet to be bought to justice in Nigeria, despite it all Southafricans never went to that extreme.

The Nigerian government should tread with caution.

Are u comparing hence making equivalent 2 different n non similar actions such as the fatal n non volountary accident in Nigeria and Xenophobic attacks being carried out volountarily in South Africa by South Africans .....

That's an insult to our collective reasoning..

Either GEJ,or GMB,SA reaction is an insult to Nigerian as a whole.

Wish our govt had been proactive with this issue,by now,SA would have known how to deal with us with Respect.

This is real crap and it has nothing to do with APC or PDP.

I think the comparison was uncalled for. The attacks on the Nigerians on their soil is termed 'xenophobia'. The death of the South Africans is termed ?? 'Murder'? 'Assassination'? 'Accident'? Which exactly? Because it's certainly not xenophobia.

Unfortunately, "FEAR" is not expressed by timid noise-making on the part of a Nation but by "what you can really do, when 'push' comes to 'shove'.... and on that level, recalling that we even had to launder money to S/Africa through that infamous Ayo Oritsejafor, to get weapons to deal with our own "local insurgency", which the S/African leader "thinly but very sarcastically" made reference to, we are in no position to cause any level of "FEAR" to a country that manufactures weapons, Ammunitions, Warships and attack helicopters"!

Nigeria is only big in "population and size", the much hyped "big in economy" is a fallacy because aside from having a huge population which is "market" for any product, any day, we MANUFACTURE NOTHING and hence cant even take full advantage of our population and size.

As annoyed as l am to say this, it is the bitter truth.
South Africa is really rubbing it in our faces and l hope Buhari will shun any moves from them when the times comes..... but that is all we can do.

we will not get the deserved respect until we put our own house, economy, Electricity and manufacturing base, in order.

Editor1:
South Africa has faulted the decision of the federal government to recall its high commissioners, saying it would communicate diplomatically with Nigeria when Muhammadu Buhari becomes president in May.

Recalling that it did not take a similar action when many of its citizens where trapped during the collapse of a guest house at the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Lagos, it described the reaction of the Nigerian government as “unfortunate and regrettable”.

“The South African government takes note that the outgoing government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has recalled its acting high commissioner to South Africa,” read a statement issued by Clayson Monyela, spokesperson of the department of international relations and cooperation.

“A government resorts to such an extraordinary diplomatic step to express outrage at actions or behaviour of another government.

“We are not sure which actions or behaviour of the South African Government the Nigerian Government is protesting. It is only Nigeria that has taken this unfortunate and regrettable step. If this action is based on the incidents of attacks on foreign nationals in some parts of our country, it would be curious for a sisterly country to want to exploit such a painful episode for whatever agenda.

“Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has just returned from Indonesia to attend the Africa-Asia Summit and the 60th Anniversary of the historic Bandung Conference. At no stage did the Nigerian delegation present at that gathering, express its intention to formally raise the issue with the South African side.

“South Africa remains committed to a strong bond of friendship and bilateral relations with Nigeria. It is for this reason that when 84 of our citizens perished on Nigerian soil, we did not blame the Nigerian Government for the deaths and more than nine (9) months delay in the repatriation of the bodies of our fallen compatriots, or for the fact that when these bodies eventually returned, they were in a state that they could not be touched or viewed as required by our burial practice.

“We will raise our concerns through diplomatic channels with the new administration that will assume office in Nigeria next month.”

In a manner that appears to be a mockery of government’s handling of the insurgency in the country, the statement added that South Africa has been able to bring the xenophobic attack under control and has been receiving support from other African countries.

“Through our interventions, relative calm and order has been restored,” the statement read.

“We are encouraged by the solidarity our country continues to receive from other African countries and the international community.

“We shall also continue to support and not blame the Nigerian government as it battles to deal with Boko Haram that continues to kill many innocent civilians. We hope that the more than 200 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram will someday be reunited with their families.”

So they simply mean the killing spree should continue until Buhari takes over. The Federal Government of Nigeria should very strong stand to teach the lazy South Africans lesson.

The lawmakers were at the top of the fight because the presidency kept mute on the issue as usual. While I agree with the decision of the Nigerian government to recall its ambassador, I feel the lack of real action on the part of South Africa is a reflection of their level of disrespect for Nigeria and its outgoing executive leadership at the moment. See guts, they even made it indirectly clear they have no business with the outgoing president. President Jonathan really brought disdain to this country, South Africa will no
t insult us like this on a very good day..

What do you think you are saying ? When south Africa deny us to attend afcon 1996 what did u do. Is that not insult or what will i call u. Now its GEJ all cat and bogs came out to speak.

Imagine a country that was oppressed by foreigners on their own soil insulting Nigeria and the president. Because an accident happened in Nigeria that led to death of some south Africans, they now relate it to a deliberate stupidity and killing of others by their nationals. Let me see how buhari will handle this. Maybe in his usual pride, he will extend or welcome their so called hand of friendship when he takes. Leadership or he will kick their stupid hands back in their face as it rightly should. This is not just an insult on GEJ but the whole Nigerian nation.
For how many day they kept killing other black nationals and what did their government do not until recently. Pompous inbred swines. Africa @ large would have left you guys under the whip of your white slave masters.

Can you just imagine that?

This, for me, would be Buhari's first real test. How he handles this after May 29 may probably determine what his Presidency would be known for. You cannot threaten nor bully a whole nation.

Buhari said some few weeks back that he is totally in support of the government's actions, so far.

And I also remember that it was the APC led house that has been clamouring for decisive action from the FG. I patiently await Buhari's next comment on this issue.

What the RSA are failing to grasp is that, our envoy was only invited for consultations and wasn't necessarily a total recall. They have succeeded in blowing this out of proportion with the veiled insults. GEJ doesn't have much at stake anymore, so, they should thread with caution. Lest, he begins to take an interest in their companies operating here. Because he is still the President, and he can still cause a lot of damage to them.

They should thread with caution.

South Africa did not stop Nigeria from attending 1996 Afcon on its soil. It was Abacha govt that withdrew Nigeria from participating in the game because Mandela criticized him for executing Saro-Wiwa and instigated Nigeria's suspension from the Commonwealth. CAF sanctioned Nigeria for that boycott.

If this news is true..then it's very insulting not to Jonathan alone but to Nigeria as a whole..Cuz whether they like it or not Jonathan is the one we chose to represent us and shunning president Jonathan means shunning Nigeria and that is unacceptable

I think Buhari should also refuse to discuss with them

If you show your neighbours that you dont really value that precious car of yours they will sooner than later use it as a refuge bin. The opposition in a rabid bid to oust the President(Jonathan) said and wrote awful lot of insulting invectives about his person forgeting that this is the President of their country.
The world being a global village where other nations watch what goes on in other countries, saw that we dont give a damn about our leader. So we should not cry blue murder when they take a cue from us and insult him as well. Afterall the office of the President is not respected in nigeria, they concluded.
