INTRODUCTION
Hiring a Private Home Tutor (PHT) may seem like an unnecessary extravagance. Afterall, in the olden days, school systems still produced students who did very well academically and in life. The need for hiring a PHT arose with increased population of pupils/students in schools which led parents in enrolling their children into tuition centres. One would wonder what would have happened to Nigeria's educational system had private owned schools not encouraged by the government.

THE NEED FOR A PRIVATE HOME TUTOR
For instance, in a classroom, one teacher may be faced with around 20 pupils, each with different abilities, different rates of learning, individual strengths and weaknesses. The teacher will be forced to treat his class as if it contained just one students. He/she orates from one end of the classroom, unable to know how effectively each pupil is assimilating the lesson. In this environment, it is possible for a child to fail to grasp one particular point. It is unlikely that the teacher would be able to spot the particular point of misunderstanding cast on the countenance on one pupil hidden amongst so many other faces.

THE BENEFITS OF A PRIVATE HOME TUTOR
1. Your child is given individual attention. Thus, he will be able to focus properly on the lesson.
2. You no longer need to worry about sending your children to different tuition centres. Instead, the tutor will come to your home and this will give your child an upper hand as he is now learning in a safer environment.
3. Private Tutors would be able to give you feedback as they are dealing directly with your child.

POSSIBLE CHALLENGES FROM PHT TO PARENTS
1. Interfering during lesson. This will make the child to loose confidence in the Tutor.
2. Distractions: Parents sitting with the child during lesson.
3. Correcting a child by a PHT may be in form of smooth talks, shouting or a little spanking depending on the attitude of the child during lesson. Parents need not feel bad about this at all.
4. Threatening to sack the PHT in the presence of the child will lead to a total disrespect and unattentiveness of the child during lesson.

N.B. Hiring a PHT is to fill in spaces left by school teachers, therefore hiring a PHT may not be necessary for parents/guardians who are able to fill in those spaces.

My prayer and wish to all parents is that, your efforts and labours on your child(ren) shall never be in vain. You will live to witness the successes of your children and live to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

You are right. Molestation cuts across every facets. We have read here father molesting daughters, boss molesting staffs and so on. Hiring a God fearing PHT is so important.
