Strategic Partnership Agreements – In 2011, as part of the efforts to promote local content, Shell sold its shares in 5 oil fields where NNPC was the majority shareholder. Shell had been the operator of these oil wells but NNPC awarded the operator rights to its subsidiary NPDC i.e. it allowed Shell to sell its shares but not the rights to operate them as it previously did.

NPDC then signed an ‘agreement’ worth almost $7bn with Seven Energy(Kola Aluko) (3 fields) and Atlantic Energy(Jide Omokore) (2 fields) for them to operate the fields. These companies of course had no clue how to operate the oil fields – Atlantic was registered as a company the day before it signed the agreement – so of course they sub-contracted the work to other companies. Seven Energy’s contract entitled it to 10% of the profits from the 3 fields while Atlantic was entitled to 30% of profits in its 2 fields.

SLS complaint was that these 2 companies were pointless and were just collecting money that should have accrued to Nigeria for doing nothing. Why didn’t NPDC just sub-contract the work by itself? The two companies also did not pay any taxes or royalties whatsoever to Nigeria.

which way, my people?

buhari should never let this die down like the others. the way we are still keeping chibok girls campaign alive, we should also advocate for a full scale probe of NNPC and all of the perpetrators brought to book. this is not about witch hunting. it is about our collective wellbeing. same thing happened in brazil and presidents and ministers resigned.

We must get to the root of this, because this is the root of corruption in Nigeria.

The scandalous ridden NNPC should be probed just like many other government agencies. Nigeria will never move forward if corruption, nepotism and mismanagement is not contained. No wonder the country is stuck at the bottom of the World's most corrupt nations.

Go and look at the way Kola Aluko has been spending our money, bought a $150 million yacht,Spending it on Supermodel Naomi Campbell.Private jet, mansions in the best locations in the world. These are resources given to us by God to be shared by 170 million citizens, yet it goes to few individuals,it's unfortunate.

You are damn right. That's the main reason why the incoming president must probe all the shenanigans going on and there should be no sacred cow. What GEJ and his kleptomanic friends did to the country is a sin especially in a country where the average citizen makes $2 a day. This is a shame and it should be corrected. Nigerians can't just be watching while their future is being mortgaged by few elites. This has been going on for a long time and must stop. Tired of Nigeria being the laughingstock in the western world.

What SS people don't understand is after the probe they will found out that majority of those that benefited from the missing $20b aren't from their region, 40% of the thieves are from SW, 30% from the north, 20% from SE, 10% or less from the SS where the money emanated from, at the end of the day they will shower praises on SLS for blowing the whistles & chide the otuoke drunken master for allowing such shady deals to happened under his watch.

Yet to some, Sanusi lied about the missing dollars.
