For those who don't know, I have always opined that 2015 was all about the oil. Not about any bloody change or unsitting a non performing Government.

It's unfortunate that the youths used to achieve this goal did not see beyond the meagre thousands they were paid!!
See this one again. If we are to go by the amount of money given, GEJ would have won.

America also tortured prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, does that make it right? What is wrong is wrong don't try to justify unfairness because it has happened somewhere else.

Does these blocs naturally belong to those holding them? Did they buy the oil blocs?

Fact is, Nigerias oil block Ownership is spread across all tribes.

Even if they were in the hands of 'land owners' they would still need the expertise and financial muscle necessary to exploit the hydrocarbons found therein.

Just taken take a look at the list of the precious minerals found in Nigeria and you realise that crude methods of exploration are still being utilised by the locals but they have not been able to create a framework for grand scale exploitation.

In any case, are the problems of the ND states a lack of funds or the best utilisation of the these funds?

You are right about utilisation of funds. I still believe blocs should belong to communities and not individuals. What has TY danjuma done to merit a bloc far away from his home state? Let him invest in solid minerals abundant in taraba and help his region develop

I wouldn't like to go solely into Danjuma's past. But we should realise his oilfield is far into deepwater not something any singular community can lay claim to. It is considered to be in Nigerian waters not really onshore.

In saying that by law corporate social responsibility should be seen to be administered across the ND to bridge corporation with the people.

To the matter of ownership, you do realise SAPETRO has fields in Benin republic and Mozambique. We might as well ask what any business man has done to deserve his enterprise location.

Was quota-system and it's evil twin federal character considered when awarding these blocs!?
Quota system is a big fraud any day, any time.
Take the case of just concluded recruitment in Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun. Over 60% were Northerners. Can we then justify that over 60 of the populace who are employable for the advertised positions are northerners?
What is arguable here is that over 60 of populace (employable and non-employable) are northerners.

if you peruse the article, you'd discover that FG is in strategic partinership with those who these oil field licenses are given to; this partnership comes with benefit of revenue accruing to FG. And I didnt see where in the article the OP said the license were issued for free. Again, if the FG decides to give these blocs up to the community, how does FG stand to gain in this?
Oil blocs are owned all over the world mostly not by the communities where they are found, but by individuals/companies from other places. We have Nigerians who own OB in mozambique, too. So, I see nothing wrong in Nigerians from other regions owning OBs in the ND.

if some people claim total ownership of lagos, how come your people own properties , are voted into elective offices and are appointed as commissioners there? Tell me one igbo state that does one of those things your people enjoy in lagos for non-indigene. There was a time in SE where a state laid down civil servants who are from other igbo states. How do u explain that? Look around you, before leaping.

Reading the OP, one might start to think that the northerners are the most wealthy Nigerians and that the north is the most developed region of the country.

If only..... lipsrsealed

it is obvious to even the blind man , that northerners are selfish, materialistic, lazy, greedy and wicked.gbam!
have u observed hw they prefer government job than to work in private? thats coz they like easy ay out where they can make money without suffering for it.

the only northerners i respect are the grass root farmers are merchants ni the market as well as bdc.north basically has trade as main profession but the average hausa man is just some thing else entirely

no one is disputing the fact that oil bloc can be owned by individuals, but whereby power is abused to the extent of using it to award your selves or allies where you will gain or profit from individually is what is alarming.

observe that all the heads of state metioned whether u like it or not have stakes in the oil bloc they awarded they are simply behind the scenes thats all.

and of course due proccess was probably not followed as they jumped procedures.if they are awarding themselves tell me, who will cross the t and dot the "i"? no one is going to investigate them to see if they fulfill requirements coz the masters awarded the masters.

In the modern era it's a 50-50 split between the host community/state and the federal government. At times, it's even better.
