I'm looking at creating a business card for my tech start up but I have different ideas and concept/samples and may end up not choosing just one.

Does having multiple business cards have a negative effect on my brand??
Would you advice to have more than one design of business cards for myself

multiple business cards do not have a negative effect on your brand; it makes it seem as though you do not have a brand or you're confused.

imagine if close up toothpaste had like three different pack colors and designs

Wouldn't matter as much if the logo stays the same, except the design is some what connected to your logo (colors for example). Just keep the variations as minimal as possible, both in style and in number. Two variations is ok.

If you keep certain elements consistent across board, then I'm sure you are safe to go.
