“Watching Messi, you don’t miss being there,” he said. “You enjoy it so much that you don’t think about not being there. You just think about what the guy did. Every time I played against Messi I spent hours studying and trying to stop him. Many times, we were successful. Other times we were not successful.

Mourinho was in the unusual position of not having a team in either semi-final this week but said that he was actually able to take some pleasure in watching Messi.



With this comment coming from Mourhino despite the rivalry he has with Barcelona team while in Spain, can we generalize that he would have prefer Messi to Ronaldo in his team if he is given opportunity to make a choice between both?

I agree with you to some extent, but remember Messi makes playing easier for his teammates because his presence on the field will no doubt attract two to three players to himself.
