Crystal palace spoiled Steven Gerrard's farewell party with a 3-1 premiere league win over Liverpool at Anfield.


Gerrard's final appearance at home ground before joining Major League Soccer outfit Los Angeles Galaxy dominated the pre-match build up and Adam Lallana's 26th- minute opener meant the 34 year-old's 354th competitive Anfield outing was all set to end in sucess.



But Palace ignored the script, as the brilliant Yannick Bolasie and Jason Puncheon led the charge against a shaky Liverpool backline. The latter equalising with a free- kick late in the first half.



Visiting substitute Wilfried Zaha scored 22 seconds after his 59th minute introduction and then won a late penalty that Glenn Murray converted on the rebound, as Alan Pardew's team completed a well deserved league double over the merseyside's outfit.




Meanwhile, the 3-1 defeat in captain Gerrard's last Anfield game leaves the Red's six points behind Manchester United with just one match left to play, ensuring that Louis van Gaal's men will at least join the champions league at the final qualifying stage.
