Twenty-two Nigerian political parties have jointly stated their commitment to improving the country’s electoral process and helping the President-elect with policy recommendations that can engender development.

The parties, which met in Abuja on Monday, also resolved to review their performance in the last general elections and address the shortcomings that made them lose the 2015 elections.
The parties that met include: Democratic Peoples Party, Peoples Party of Nigeria, Unity Party of Nigeria, Labour Party, Alliance for Democracy, Peoples Democratic Movement, United Progressives Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Social Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress, among others.
Frederich Faseun of Unity Party of Nigeria; Peter Ameh, PPA Chairman, and Secretary of-General of Inter-Party Advisory Council, attended the meeting.

The parties resolved to formulate optimal ways of working with the Independent National Electoral Commission to further strengthen Nigeria’s electoral process.
They also proposed a way of contributing to national development process by helping the soon-to-be inaugurated All Progressives Congress government of Muhammadu administration with policy blueprint.
According to Mr. Ameh, the importance of improving the electoral process to encourage multi-party politics can not be overemphasized.
“We looked at issues on how to re-strategise and create a better environment for the electoral process come 2019, an environment that will encourage multi-party democracy and encourage more parties to win elections because this last election was not really encouraging,” he said.

Not a bad idea. These are the positive ingredients we need and not some pot headed governor fanning the embers of ethnoreligious hatred and intolerance.

All hands must be on deck to pull back this country from the brink of total economic collapse. The first phase of kicking out PDP has been accomplished, now the real work begins.

God help us all.

Great.

Useless parties..they never believed in Buhari's candidacy in the first place. Now he has won and shall govern them (by fire or by force).
They preferred his opponent (Jonathan), who has been rejected by more than 52% of the electorates.
Anyway, they need to declare their intentions to join APC before the moving train enters its first gear on May 29, 2015.

Sai Buhari...

Can you also produce a good opposition while at it? We are so tired of the ethno-religious tendencies of the PDP.

New Nigeria.
I hope they all come on board with sincere mind cool

Would have loved to see PDP there also. Although this is the same way APC treated PDP, so I think PDP is taking back its pound of flesh.
Maturity has to set in, National interest has to come before political affiliations. We need all hands on deck.

We need to strengthen the electoral process to make it strong and variable.
We need to keep improving from what we have now and make the next election Free and fair

Frederich Faseun of Unity Party of Nigeria; Peter Ameh, PPA Chairman, and Secretary of-General of Inter-Party Advisory Council, attended the meeting.

So Faseun could come and join and join the winning team after all his romance with GEJ and the pipeline contact he had with Gani Adams
