A Chicago Islamic school president was charged with sexual abuse of a 23 year old employee. It has caused a drift in the local Muslim community. Muslims say it should be handled by community leaders instead of the police. Sorry but this is AMERICA where we have laws. Let the law handle it and send him to PRISON!



Mohammed Abdullah Saleem, 75, of the Institute of Islamic Education in Elgin, a Chicago suburb, was arrested Sunday after the allegations against him were reported Saturday night in the Washington Post and the New York Times. The woman told police in December that she had been sexually abused by Saleem at the school last April, according to a news release issued Tuesday morning by the Elgin police.

Saleem was scheduled to appear at a bond hearing Tuesday.

The allegations against Saleem, who has been a respected Muslim leader in Chicago for decades, surfaced in December, when leading Muslim scholar referred to them in a blog.

The case Saleem had created tensions in Chicago’s large Muslim community among those who believe such allegations are better handled by religious and community leaders and those who believe they should be reported immediately to police.

It doesn’t matter what community or what race, sexual abuse is a vile crime. Sex crimes are no different than murder. They destroy the victims life. Prosecuted to the full extent of the law I say.
