It amazes me the way our dear country has degenerated to, these days when electric transformer on the street damages beyond repair, if people withing the neighborhood don't rally and tax up themselves for contribution and replacement of the damaged transformer then they are on a long thing on seeing power supply.

It can even take up to 6 months or years if they fail to do anything and just wait for PHCN to fix it up.

About a month ago now, the transformer that is serving our street got damaged beyond repair, and good a thing that the PHCN office is affected by that very transformer, and instead of them to replace the transformer, rather after 3 weeks of no light as result of the damaged transformer, the PHCN people went as far as tapping light from the other transformer close by that is serving other part of the neighborhood, and leaving every other people on the damaged transformer to do whatever pleases them.

But thank God that a volunteer around that is well to do has payed for a new transformer that will be landing next week.

Because this whole thing is getting out of hand in this our country and nobody knows his/her right again

This whole thing get me thinking for our country and I want to ask again; Who is supposed to replace a damaged public transformer, PHCN or the public users?

Can't tell you how many times we've been asked to "donate" #500/#1000 each to restore our transformers. The NEPA workers are actually the ones destroying their own equipment.

Do not be deceived, it is NEPA. What's the use of their maintainance department? If you are still using the old meter, if you check the Nepa bills, they charge for maintainance which is constant and increases yearly,. Were does the money goes to? Even if you use prepaid, they have fixed charges, I guess. That also is meant for maintainance.

That sector of this country has rottened to a point whereby they don't care. They live In the world of there own jare... Nepa...

This has been ongoing for many years unchecked! This is the genesis of corruption, people didn't know initially when all these nonsense started that money was budgeted for all these repairs and replacements, so the tradition of "don't wait for them till eternity, do it yourself" continued. Now people are used to that way of life that they now see it as foolishness to insist that govenment does its job. The state of mind of many Nigerians is the reason the country still has a long way to go, Nigerians need more orientation and awareness to develop Their minds and get them to push for reforms
