It is no longer news that Nigeria has been hit with the dearth of fuel. The scarcity of this essential commodity in the last few days has gripped Nigerians and non Nigerians alike making life more difficult. Businesses have been affected, monthly salary earners are crying foul, and surprisingly traffic has suddenly disappeared especially in Lagos whose traffic situation is second to none in the country.

One part of Nigeria that is however not affected is the social media. Nigerians especially the youths have taken to the various social media platform like Facebook and Twitter to express their frustration at a broken economic system that continues to squeeze hard on consumers and make an already torturous living even more hellish howabeit in a comical way.

Here is today’s trending hashtag – #ReplaceAMovieWithFuel. Some of the top headlines includes: Fuel of Wall Street, Dark Fuel Rises, 50 Shades of Fuel, Fuel Men, Fuel of Steel,The Last Fuel to Abuja, Fuel in the Monkey shadow, Night at the fuel station etc.

While you queue at the petrol station or wherever you are #ReplaceAMovieWithFeul.

This is a vivid manifestation of the old saying that literally translates to a departing office holder defecating on the chair he is vacating. Anyway, Nigerians will always have something to smile about.
