Okada Ban: Governor Obiano, Okada Riders Face-off by Nobody: 8:37am On May 26, 2015
Commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada riders, have vowed to resist any attempt by Governor Obiano to ban their operations in parts of Anambra state.

The stance by the riders, according to Vanguard, follows rumours that the state government was planning to enforce a ban on Okada in major cities of Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi.

The motorcyclists under the platform of Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria (MTUN), issued a warning that that the ban on their operations in the state will lead to a surge in crime rate because some people will be unemployed.

“Anybody who bans Okada operation in the state is inviting criminals to return in the state ” they cautioned.

Making the position of the Union known, president of MTUN, Chief John Onedibe said enforcing any ban on Okada would pose grave consequences for the state.

He estimated that about 10,000 Okada riders in Anambra would be pushed out of job if the ban is enforced, signaling that it will lead to a spike in crime rate.

Anambra state is not the first in Nigeria to enforce the ban on the operations of motorcycle operators, many other states across the country have also enforced such bans citing security and safety reasons among others.

There are many differences between the two states, in omanbala Okada people don't decide what happen in the state, whether okad people is banned or not once those that matters in Omanbala back the move okada people will can go and die.

Yes we own Okada businesses like manufacturing, importing and selling of the motorcycle and the components parts but we don't ride okada for a living, those manufacturers and importers in Anambra can easily go into Keke and everything is solved.

This is Omanbala for you

Keep lying to yourself, your own braggado is just too much. Your people dont drive Okada indeed.

In Anambra not from Anambra, do you how metropolitant Omanbala is, the only way it will affect Omanbalas much is that they dominate the business of manufacturing and selling the machine and the component parts.

Omanbala can either be a welder or a keke driver than be Okada driver, your not Igbo so you don't know how occupation and businesses are done in igboland.
Believe what I told you, many people say Anambras are businessmen and traders but most people don't know Anambra North people don't trade despite having the largest concentration of market in Nigeria in their zone.
You hardly see an Nnewi person selling clothes anywhere in Nigeria but 6 out of every 10 motor or spare parts dealers you see in Nigeria must be Nnewi people.

Nobody owns bicycle in Nigeria until you mentioned Awka Etiti people just like Orlu people own drug businesses while Abiribas dominate curtains and Akokwas cooking utensils and Azia aluminum, Agulu bread and supermarket.

These are how businesses and occupations are based in igboland based on towns and geo-political zones.

Believe it or don't, Anambras don't ride Okada but they deal on machines and the spare parts

What Obiano need to do is to impress us with stellar performances not pampering okada people to score cheap political point.

The voice of the elites and the technocrats will overide those of the okadas, we know who our stake holders are

thats undemocratic and highly unacceptable in 21st century awa problems iin this nation iis that we chew whatever given to us by awa leaders *sad*

iin Egypt January 25 Revolution, indiscriminate increase iin food stuffs(bread) fueled protest. as wee all know, Egypt as the world’s largest wheat importer, is reliant on climate-tossed countries like Russia and Pakistan for its food supply... Nigeria with all iits abundant natural resources and what have you still inflate commody prices yet no one says a thin like we are programmed to suffer.

Nice point bruv! ban iis not an ish, but having a reliable alternative. Yero as a case study completely banned Okada iin kaduna state without injecting sufficient keke(marwa) into every nook and cranny of the state. i wonder the people that gave him the 485,833 votes *scuffs*

Re: Okada Ban: Governor Obiano, Okada Riders Face-off by omenka(m): 11:20am On May 26, 2015
Watch him lift the ban a coupla of months to election.

I'm completely against this Okada ban stuff. You don't take away a man's legit means of livelihood without providing him an alternative.

Just doesn't make any sense. If crime fighting is the objective, then be rest assured of an increase in crime rate upon such ban. That is what happens when you render so many people unemployed in one fell swoop.

Gov Obiano should respect himself, does he know the multiplier effect of that okada ban. High crime rate, popular mode of quick transportation, nnewi spare parts boys will be out of job, uncountable okada machanics will be displaced. Obiano the puppet and stooge should respect himself.
