The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to use his first 100 days in office to perfect strategies on how to tackle the problems of infrastructural deficiency, unemployment, insecurity, pervasive corruption, revenue leakages and persistent scarcity of Petroleum products.

In a press statement it issued in Abuja on Friday to commemorate Democracy Day in Nigeria, the umbrella body of legal practitioners in the country, while congratulating President Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, for their successful inauguration, also thanked former President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat after the presidential election.

“The act of conceding defeat at the Presidential elections even before the official announcement of the election results greatly helped to douse rising tensions in Nigeria and has reserved for him in Nigerian history, a place of honour as a statesman”, the NBA noted.

However, the legal body stressed that the inability of Jonathan’s administration to pass into Law the Petroleum Industry Bill, the Prisons Reforms Act and the Police (Amendment) Act and several other Justice sector Bills, represented low points for his administration.

The statement which was signed by the National President of the Association, Mr. Augustine Alegeh, SAN, read: “We celebrate today not just our democracy day but also a change of Government from one Political party to another.

“It is a unique and first time experience and celebration in our democratic experience. It confirms that our democracy is not just growing and developing but it is also maturing.

“We must as a people celebrate our collective success in the peaceful conduct of the 2015 General elections. The massive voter turnout and peaceful conduct of the elections are reflective of our true nature as a peaceful nation.

“The NBA congratulates the victorious candidates at the 2015 General elections and commends other candidates who were not successful at the elections for their offer of service to Nigeria. We trust that the elected candidates appreciate the trust imposed in them and the hope and expectations of the electorate for a better Nigeria where the good of the majority of Nigerians is the guiding principle of Government.
“The NBA commends the outgoing President, HE Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR for the peaceful conduct of the 2015 General Elections which were adjudged largely credible and were reflective of the true wishes of majority of Nigerians.

NBA thieves looking for corruption cases that will enrich their pockets.. Lets not forget its the same embezzled money your theif-clients will pay you. I hereby advocate that NBA should be the first to be probed!

NBA right on point... Someone above me said they are looking to make money from such cases... Who cares? As long as it returns our money

saTANoids wants him to give them the things PDP can't give in 16 years in 1 day.

I even heard some of them saying they saw no changes. meanwhile GEJ is back in Otueke and Army command zone is already on it's way to Maiduguri at the very face of the BH.
Go back to your dictionaries folks.

Anyone still expecting PMB to be different is joking.

If Jonathan was the president and even if he had privately declared assets, the info would have leaked, and a lot of persons would be using it against him.

Now that we have PMB, we will think all is well, not knowing things are happening without us knowing.

I'd rather sit with devils cos I know what to expect, but the angels? Can't trust them.

Buhari #DeclareYourAssetsPublicly

Buhari #BringBackOurGirls!

NBA just spoke the mind of the people. That PMB promised outgoing ministers and public office holders alike, that they have nothing to fear doesn't mean their corrupt practices won't be looked into. For when the Nigerian people start to call for their probe they'll be forced to oblige the call which is in line with their campaign promises.

I pray that PMB/PYO will always remember that power belongs to the people and that VOX POPULI VOX DEI

God Bless PMB/PYO

Is NBA our new advisers? In Nigeria, everyone claims to know too much about everything. Well, theirs will be the first to tackle.

That advice would have been given to our former president.
