I've not done a gearbox refurbishment alone before though. I've done the troubleshooting and repair with my mechanic. We have seen situation of no lock-up but there was a code thrown up. Slippery gear without code, erractic shifting without code, reverse gear erratic movement with no code.
We have resolved several problem by inspecting clutch plates, fibres, torque conveter. servicing stock solenoid valve on the valve body, pressure control switch replacement.
My take on this is that you probably would have to open up the gearbox, do all your physical and electrical check(alldata maybe if factory manual isn't available)

I actually took this vehicle for engine wash about 2 months back and it was like they never washed it as evident in the before picture,
i had given up the engine would remain like that, seeing it this way now gives me goose pimples.

Replaced temp sensor a few weeks back, currently replacing transmission filter, draining transmission oil and checking all solenoid filters for dirt. So far so good...

Most times it's better to buy a compressor off a toks engine, that way you are sure it's not a refurbished compressor.


Very wet weather today.

Installed the new compressor, lubricated properly, filled with cheap gas and checked for leaks. After checking and found none, I discharged and filled it up with the real stuff, car is now motuary standard very cold, and suicidal if you don't set the climate control.


Iv checked and marked pressure guage and will cross check after a week to be sure all is well.

Job order complete but there's still a lot of work left.

Front sway bar links and bushings worn

Alignment impossible until struts are replaced.

The sway bar link got bent as a result of the uneven height.

Funny thing is every one I asked didn't know the v6 had a filter let's hope it will be available in onyigbo.

Suspension parts coming down

Long list of parts to buy was really overwhelming....

Owner will fix abs and do suspension (kpom noises) later.

The studs holding the abs wheel speed sensors were broken, a lot of drilling and cutting will be required.

No codes on engine or transmission, transmission oil changed recently cause of problem but it still persists.

Could you throw more light on the erratic shifts? Particular shifts or just random?

Suspects: Valve body, torque converter, cooling line. Seals could be part of it though, but they tend to work inversely. If the car drives well up to the 4th gear when cold, rule filter out.

Thought about it, but it's more of a temp loss off power then sudden regain.

Problem seems fixed still test driving, by monday I'll be sure.

By the way it's an electronic throttle body and there are no codes.

Broken ABS speed sensor bolts removed.

Weld tips of broken bolt to larger bolt, spray penetrating oil and turn gently.

If it starts again disconnect the TCM harness, drive it manually and see what happens. It would help determine if the issue is in or out of box.

Nice suggestion. But tcm and ecm are one unit on this vehicle. Would have to disconnect all solenoids to test.




So far after the cleaning, 112km and no problem found seems problem is solved.
