CHAPTER ONE

The camera floated in midair staring downwards at David.

"Is this thing on? Testing. Testing. 1-2-3. Oh, come on..."

David's voice was loud and filled with frustration. He was able to levitate the camera upwards using his mind in an act of telekinesis. He struggled to switch it on as his Powers were still very difficult to control, still David was determined to get there.

He concentrated mentally and willed the camera to switch on, a red led light blinked as the camera came to life. The device immediately registered David's face, he was just a teenager no more than 17 years old.

"Much better...Beginning tape number one. My Powers have gotten stronger. It all started with moving small objects around, mentally." said David, he was walking towards one of the soon to be scrapped cars on the field. The car was a jalopy, an old model volkswagen beetle, the camera was following him and recording everything.

"I could lift the camera into the sky if I wanted. But this is different. This is not a magic trick so no imitation. You won't believe this."

David stretched himself and did a bit of exercise before grabbing the Volkswagen Beetle by the bumper, he was going to raise it. The muscles on his body tensed as the little car began escaping the law of gravity. A drop of sweat broke out from his forehead as he succeeded in lifting the vehicle over his head. He even maintained his weightlifter stance. He need to focus now, harder than he had ever done in his life, a little slip off and the

CHAPTER ONE

The door to the holding room was always locked from the outside. Any prisoner who got trapped inside, stayed inside. The room was a cage of its own kind, there were no windows. A single light bulb hung uselessly below the white washed ceiling. The two souls being held hostage at this time were executing their escape plan.

"Have you removed the ceiling board?" Stella asked Audrey.

"I'm trying to, mum."

Audrey was still chiselling at the ceiling board with the hair packer her mum had given her as a birthday present. It was going to serve the purpose of giving them access to the roof. She was so focused that she forgot about the person below her. Her heart beat faster with each passing second. Their captors could show up anytime now. They usually received beatings and threats in the past which she and her mum could bear. But what if the captors decided they were no longer useful? What if the captors decided to end their lives.

It was time to take flight. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she shut off all distractions. She made a mental note not to look downwards from where she was. A little slip off and it would be over. She was currently standing on her mother's shoulder. Though Audrey was taller than most kids her age, she still needed a lift to touch the ceiling. Tiny bits of wood gave way as she worked. Her mum was completely rhgid like stone. Stella showed no signs of flinching soon with Audrey standing on her shoulders. Right now, their only hope of escape was for Audrey to get into the roof.

Audrey panicked and lost her balance on hearing a guard's footsteps. Stella threw her arms in the air desperately and luckily caught her by the waist.

"Be careful" warned Stella in a whisper. Audrey was her only daughter and child. Stella waited to hear the door creak open, instead someone was snoring. Her shoulders dropped in relief, they were good, the guard was probably just napping.

"This is the plan. You go into the roof, drop into the hallway then you can open the door from outside. I will take care of the rest" Stella said. Audrey smiled and leaned up to plant a kiss on her cheek.

"Thank you, mum."
Audrey quickly got back on top of her mum's shoulders. She was done with removing the ceiling board. She pushed it aside and pulled herself in through the newly made hole. The vacuum inside the roof was crampy with dust and cobwebs everywhere. Audrey was beginning to choke as she found her way in the darkness. She quickly located a spot outside the room. She was dying from her allergies, so no time to try chiseling the ceiling.

"This might hurt" said Audrey to herself in between painful coughs. She raised her foot and smashed it downwards. The board broke and she crashed into the hallway in a ball of dust, broken ceiling and all. The guard was still snoring away on a sofa near her with his gun next to him. She swallowed the stinging pain all over her body and proceed to open the door to the holding room where her mum was but it didn't even bulge. She needed the keys. Audrey looked sideways to see them hanging on the guard's belt. All she needed do was reach it and take it.

The guard cringed unconsciously as Audrey's hand came close to the belt. He was trying to enjoy his nap better. He was about to roll over when Audrey swiped the keys. The keys went into a keyhole and turned with a metallic chime. The guard stopped snoring but was still sleep. The door creaked open as Stella got out. It was the last straw that broke the camel's back. The guard woke up and went for the gun in a bid to get the escapees back into the holding room, only to take a heavy blow in the face, it was from Stella's boot. The force knocked him out cold.

Mom and daughter immediately took to their heels. The guards would soon notice. They tiptoed as soon as they were out of this section. Stella could feel something amiss as the other guards weren't patrolling the hallways. Soon they got to a door. Passing it would lead them into the bay. The bay would lead them to the elevators and from there...freedom.

Audrey and Stella stepped in steathily. The bay had a great view of the city. Tranquility and peace could be felt here. Audrey relaxed on a chair. Stella noticed, there had been no chairs here before!

"Surprise, suprise" came a familiar voice as two men took strides into the room. The second man carried an M7 Heckler & Koch rife that looked loaded and ready to kill, his face alone issued threats. The voice heard by Audrey and Stella belonged to the first man who was executively dressed and carried himself around executively.

"We gave you good food which is costly. Garri in the morning, indomie in the afternoon and jollof in the evening and you still want to leave without saying goodbye" said Damien, the firstman. He was clearly laughing at them. His head bowed in mock disappointment.

Without wasting any time and emotion. The second man, Joe wrapped his burly arm around Audrey's neck and drew his rifle on her.

Stella was walking backwards towards the glass windows but that didn't deter Damien, He advanced on her. One step backward for Stella was two steps forward for Damien.

"No time to dey talk. Make we kill this people sharp sharp. We nor need hostages again." said Joe. He cocked his gun and pressed it harder on Audrey's head. Audrey closed her eyes in fright. He could kill children if it meant getting what he wanted talkless of Audrey who was the daughter of a former colleague that once brought him shame and pain. Micheal would then know what it felt like to lose a loved one.

There was no where else for Stella to go getting to the glass wall formed by the windows. Damien pulled her close with a gritty smile on his face. He admired this woman. Stella had once turned down his approach despite the fact that he had enough cash to buy her almost anything, she did that in loyalty to her husband, Micheal and he liked that in a woman. They had gotten off on a wrong foot and now that the deal he needed them for was done, they could start afresh.

"I want to get as much pleasure as possible from this"

Stella tried to struggle but Damien's grip on her was very strong. He began to handle her nape intimately. Disgusted by his act, Stella gathered all the strength she could muster and pushed him away. Damien laughed out hard.

"Woman, your husband is dead. No need forming loyalty, you could join him"

"He will come for you even if it means coming back from the dead" replied Stella painfully. This men had killed the one she loved in other to get their deal done. She and Audrey were used as leverage. Joe decided to say something he had always wanted to in front of Stella.

"I dey wait for am" He was very serious, meaning every word. He wanted Micheal's head whether dead or alive.
